Lazy Days

Hey. Xnguela reckons i should officially introduce myself and stick around for some conversation. So since she seem like a fairly clued up kinda gal, i'll do just that.

I'm Laura. I'm 21. I'm originally from a town in the Midlands, so yes i'm one of those damn Brummies

Currently in my 3rd year of a media degree at Lincoln Uni, i hope to go into radio or entertainment, but the backstage kind - producing or editing, not fronting the show.

I have a boyfriend who i intend to spend the rest of my life with (awww) and i have a cat called Max who is the most beautiful yet annoying creature.

I love music (allsorts), TV (allsorts), reading, writing and winter, because Christmas is the highlight of my year so i'm always depressed in January when its over.

And, umm, thats all i can think of for now.

Welcome to the group...Xng tends to be 'fairly clued up' like that. Totally. You've started quite a thread over in General...as much debate as it's brought about, I like to follow it! If you're looking for a couple books on Gothism, I can recommend some if you'd like.

Yeah meta that would be useful. My bible through the whole of this has been Goth by Paul Hodkinson, its a great book, interesting read too. Had to return it to British library today though, shame.

eyesofatradegy: me neither, shhhh! If we keep our heads down maybe no-one will notice...

There is:

"The Goth Bible" by Nancy Kilpatrick
"What Is Goth?" by Voltaire
"Goth: Identity, Style, Subculture" by Paul Hodkinson

That's all I can think of off the top of my head...I'll post a few more titles later.

I just ordered "What is goth" by Voltaire the other day. I hear the goth dancing section is a riot. I LOVE Voltaire. :-p

Of course you can call me laura. Yeah i was going to get the Gavin Beddeley one, but i couldn't order it from the library. I heard the Voltaire book was more of a humourous look on the Goth culture not an academic one, is this wrong?

Welcome to gothic.net Laura. Do what ever Xnguela tells you to if for no other reason then making life easier... and she can help with almost any thing.

You know it took me almost a week to find my avatar, where on the web is a good place to get one?

Hi Geisha!

I adore the book "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Artur Golden. Your avatar seems to be from the book cover.

Well - finally I googled darkice and found a better avatar. At least some ice...

Sorry, i read the pm from xng first, before i saw your reply. Though she did quote you though as someone who thought it was a good idea.

Xng, if you can find me a pic of peter kay, i'd love that for my avatar. I'm afraid i'm not quite sure how to do it.
