Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Scott Walker

Earlier this year, I watched the documentary Scott Walker: 30 Century Man with a friend in San Francisco. I had just gotten back on a 12-hour flight from Osaka and was jet-lagged to hell, so I couldn't enjoy the film very much. Now, several months later, I find myself revisiting the music I had been exposed to then.

Scott Walkers latest few albums are very challenging listens, but contain some very haunting and beautiful compositions. The song "Farmer in the City" in particular is very good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0LHj3Xu9ac

I also really like "Tilt," with its strange bending guitar riff in the background: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8VQE_dnjbM

I'm necroing this because I'm back on a Scott Walker kick.

Here's some of his earlier, more straightforward but equally brilliant work:

The Old Man's Back Again
Nite Flights
The Electrician
