The legal treatment of this situation is complete and utter bullshit, and same with the story you shared about your uncle, CptSternn. Hell, I sent naked pics of myself to one of my internet boyfriends (who was six years older than me) when I was fifteen. Sure, sending naked pics isn't the brightest idea, but it shouldn't be a felony for someone to send nude pictures of themselves to someone else. It's akin to charging a masturbating girl with molestation for fingering herself. I guess Traci Lords ought to be charged for child pornography to...she posed in Playboy when she was underage.

Also, most Americans wouldn't even consider a pic of your own kids, nephews, etc. playing in the tub or in otherwise scantily-clothed but completely platonic poses to be child porn. Sadly, there are occasional cases where child protective services or the police try to call such pictures child porn or abuse, but they fail to take intent into consideration when deeming pictures "child porn." I think the prison was just looking for an excuse to fuck with you.

I'm glad the government is trying to do -something-, but I agree that the child pr0n charge is going overboard a tad. Like I said, I think a night in jail or something would be more appropriate, and would be enough to scare the kid straight. Or, perhaps some community service of some kind.

I wonder who reported the pics, though.

If she had just taken the pics, then I don't think any harm would have been done. But since she took them and sent them to an over-aged man, then yes, she should receive some kind of punishment: one night in jail, community service, a hefty $$$ fine, something along those lines. However, I -do- agree that the child pr0n charge is a bit much.

As far as what kids do with their own bodies is concerned, no, I -don't- believe folks should be allowed to do whatever they want to their own bodies if it in some way affects someone else, as this girl's actions did.

Is drinking okay? Sure. Is getting drunk at home alone justifiable? Sure. Is getting drunk then getting in a car and pulling out into traffic okay? No, because it can hurt another person.

Getting drunk and putting someone elses life in danger isnt the same as taking photos of yourself and sending them on. You take responsibility for whatever hapens to you negative or positive. If you drink drive you are then responsible for the safety of others. The two really arent the same.
