Unimatrix got suspended from school for bashing the shit out of a girl.

I say it was well-deserved.
(the suspension, I mean)

I think expulsion and being sent to an alternative school would've been more fitting. It is, after all, assault.

Jail time. It's assault and battery. Even if the girl was saying the most malicious things possible, the law stops supporting Unimatrix the second she laid one finger on the other girl.

Man, what's with the influx of hysterical women who can't keep their hands to themselves lately?

Well I guess some people don't know any better way to prove what they are worth. Considering that TV show lot of violence and videogames do as well. Beside when you read a book and stuff you always find characters that beat the sit out of the bad guy making th character look cool. I guess most people see themself as a mini Buffy =P

I dislike how people blame TV, video games and books to justify the ever increasing bouts of violence around them.

Mir: I agree. I mean, seriously, how many book worms, gamers, and couch potatoes do you know who go out and regularly beat up people? -_-;;;;;

If anything, those things help prevent violence by letting the person vent their energy into a completely different venue. [And yes, I'm speaking from experience. If I'm angry about something, then get on WoW and run around killing bears and spiders for a while, I tend to feel better and more clear-headed about whatever situation I was angry about.]

If someone feels the need to be physically violent, then they need to join a martial arts class or a fitness program, or take some serious anger management classes. -_-;;;

Violence has been around long before movies and video games came along. Violence is an innate part of the human psyche. It can be argued that reasons for violence may differ (then and now), violence itself will never go away. No matter how civilized we think we are/become.

The primal instinct to hurt/maim/kill is deeply embedded in our psyche, and won't just go away after a couple of thousand years of 'civilization'. Ironically enough, a period that has produced death rates in the hundreds of millions. I digress.

Isn't that one of the messages of the Star Trek universe? That humans are...well, human...no matter how 'advanced' we become?

I totally agree with the above... Just to point out one thing, tv does give people ideas on how to do stunts and stupid dangerous acts... But if the person didn't have the "violance" factor, he'll never do it
For example, after watching a Shit-load of CSI episodes and i always plot the perfect crime in my head, but I'm far too sweet to actually do anything :P

To the original poster, i agree that uni did some stupid thing, but i think all of you just over-reacted

Geo: Uni seems to be something of an...uhm...'black sheep' around here. [No pun intended. Seriously.]

I sometimes wonder if the things she posts are even true.

I skimmed the thread, and I doubt that whatever the girl said was malicious enough to justify what Unimatrix did. Not only that, but Unimatrix was arrogant and seemed proud of her suspension, which implies a lack of self-awareness.

As a new member, I have never directly encountered Unimatrix. This is just what I have gathered of her personality, so I do apologise. I know I'm a judgemental person.

Nothing the girl could've said would have justified this.

True, but I could see why she'd do it if it was something seriously traumatising the person had said. However, it was just some girl from school, and Unimatrix has so far proved herself to be very easily wound up.

It's still no excuse.

Yes, but I could comprehend why she'd done it if that was the case.

Well, fuck you. I thought we were friends, but obviously not. You didn't need to play dirty and make a stupid thread like this.

And LiUsAiDh, I think it's mature to not tolerate any stupid shit. When you learn to fend for yourself, then you shall be enlightened.
