To any Nirvana fans

I think this is the worst remake of Smells like teen spirit I've ever heard http://www.wimp.com/nirvana/

Who still listnes to nirvana still anyways? I mean the the lead sing of that band has been dead fo a long time. So why would people go and listen to a dead person's music?

Why... just... why...? *crawls away into corner and cries quietly* Who would do such a thing? What's WRONG with people?

Hehe, I'll assume that was meant to be ironic, X...

Still, there is some truth in that statement there. Whenever someone says to me they're a Nirvana "fan", or that they like "grunge", I just get the urge to tell them that there's no such genre as "grunge", really. It's just a long-dead media-hype based on a few good bands from the early 90's (AIC, Soundgarden) that for the most part sound pretty dated now, so what's the point of still being stuck on it?

Other "old" genres, like post-punk for instance, has a pretty versatile musical framework that can still yield interesting and relevant sounds. But "grunge"? You can't do anything new with that. It will only sound like a washed-out Pearl Jam/Soundgarden rip-off. And I hate singers that try to sound like Eddie Vedder.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought you meant to say.

For the record, I was a huge Nirvana (and Alice in Chains) fan from the sixth grade (12) until I was about 15. Now I hardly listen to them anymore. Not because I think they're bad, but simply because there are so many other good bands to pay attention to.

Am I the only one who thinks that was actually a bit cool?

I actually watched this when it was on The BBC that new years. And I thought after I had seen it that it was funny and when well with the rest of the show. Saying that I had so much to drink I couldn’t really trust the way my brain was judging the world around me.

Who the hell here was a “grungier” any way. Grunge just became an other pop culture conformity group who didn’t really get what the music was about. No one from Seattle ever use that word and Kirt Cabain (did I spell that right) certainly didn’t. I liked Nirvana’s music, ‘alterative pack rock’ was a another name I know, because it was good music which is the only thing that matters to me.

Anyway after the whole Grunge thing died out the next thing in the UK was Britpop. That started off well but you can see how the cycle of crap just keep turning and turning.

Yes - Britian is Land of Pop. That, I can agree with you on. Surprising that Radio One has started playing a lot of Emo. I never saw that one coming.

Both of our cars are in the shop and the rental has no cd player, so Radio One it is. Pop, pop and more pop. They do have Flirt Divert - a fake voicemail you give someone who's hitting on you, and Radio One plays the messages on the air. It's pretty funny. One person indentified herself as someone else's wife yesterday, on the message on the air. Oops.

It’s better then things being completely silent or *the horror* having to talk to others to pass the time.

Haha, soo funny. Was the audience really enjoying it? The so called" guitarist"with the long hair made me giggle so much. He was like banging his head as if it were some kind of sensational music, haha! * snorts*
