Tutorials for decorating hair clips?

I have several spools of ribbon, a feather accent piece, and some mini ribbon roses + metal brads (they're actually *supposed* to be used for decorating scrap book pages) which I want to use to decorate hair clips. I also bought a needle nosed pliers wire cutter and a mini glue gun.

But, I keep looking at all these goodies and realize that I don't quite know what I'm supposed to do.

Does anyone know of a one stop site which can give me directions on several different styles of decorate your own hair clips?

I'm going to show my daughter these ones to see if she likes them, because they were one of my favorite accessories of child hood. Other than that, I'm pretty much clueless.

thanks for any help!

I can't think of anything off hand but you may want to think about getting some fabric stiffener (called Stiffy hehehe) if you want to make any bows or fabric flowers as it will help them stay nice and full. I know how to make little rosettes out of strips of paper, it should work for strips of ribbon too, I'll look around and see if I can find something similar online.

Let us see the ribbon!

you can make a big ribbon flower if you have big ribbon: http://www.michaels.com/Bead-Landing...ds-accessories

You can probably put this on a hair clip: http://www.michaels.com/Jet-Howlite-...ds-accessories

Yes, I'm hawking my store's website, wut about it?

Also, have a look on Craftster! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index...xiYXJyZXR0ZQ==

PS I second Stiffy.

It would help if we knew what kind of ribbon you have, or do you have lots of different types?

Thanks for the sites. I will check them out, probably tomorrow. The rest of tonight looks to be very busy sooner than I'm expecting.

I will also show pics of all my goodies later.

Sorry to be a tease

Sorry 'later' has turned out to be so much later. I took several pictures and have made a flickr set to chronicle my DIY adventures. Here are my DIY goodies. I will be adding to it as things (hopefully) get completed!

Suggestions greatly welcomed!

Oh man, my roommate bought an awesome headband that made me realize I could easily make. When she gets home I'll take a picture and post it!

Saya, please keep in mind that you making something easily, and me making something easily are waaay different! But I am interested in seeing it, and hearing about how you plan on making it!

Well, I would look around at magazines and movies for inspiration. Gothic is actually a fashion magazine and period movies like Amadeus or film noire movies offer good ideas. Then in cases like the flowers, I would pick out a flower with ribbon, attach the flower how you want it positioned with a glue gun then secure it with the ribbon which would also hide the metal clip.

I guess that's it. Maybe pick out a fantasy or international look. When thinking of feather I think of the Native American look with the ribbons and feather hanging off the side of the clip together.
