Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

X-mal Deutschland
Any X-mal fans? They seem to be another band in which thier genre could be one of many. I've heard them described as Goth, Deathrock, Post-Punk, Coldwave, etc. Nonetheless they're amazing. Back in the good ole days (which I unfortunately wasn't alive for) they were signed on 4AD alongside the Cocteau Twins and our favorite goth legends, Bauhaus. Their distant, German, Siouxsie-esque vocals, prominient basslines, and icy guitar gets a thumbs up in my book. My favorite tracks would have to be "Reigen", "Augen-Blick", and of corse "Incubus Succubus II". Listen to them if you havn't already.

Can't help but love'em. There isn't one song of theirs that isn't on my list of favourite songs. The two that are sticking permanently in my head are probably "Matador" and "Mondlicht".

Great band, awesome band. Tocsin is one of my favorite albums. Sigh... 4AD used to be such a great label.

I love them. I was pretty indifferent to them until yesterday I listened to "Fetisch" and was hooked. All I can say is, it's Siouxsie meets Death Cult.

Damn. You really hit the nail on the head there. Hahaha. That pretty much sums it up. Never really looked at it like that until now.

I listened to "Matador" about ten times or more yesterday. Teehee yeah, pretty dorky. I couldn't help myself. That track kicks my ass.

Good goth now I [[[to quote a Smashing Pumpkins album]]] AAADDDDOOOORRREE Xmal, really. I was surprised there wasn't already a thread dedicated to them. Woot. Inkubuss Sukubuss II is my favourite track from them, her vocals' are just brillant and projective. Among the top female lead singer goth bands. Though unlike some I wouldn't consider them New Wave. They're too dark

Argh, I have no internet access for barely over a week and THIS is what happens! Haunted starts a thread on an awesome band and I nearly miss out on it...
Xmal are amazing. Anja Huwe is like a German Siouxsie. Incubus Succubus II is obviously their stand-out track, but I love both the entire Tocsin and Fetisch albums.

I've been listening to them for about a total of five minutes after seeing this thread.
And I have to say, they're not half bad.
Matador didn't really turn my crank too much, but I really like the intro to Orient. I might have to see if there is more like this.
