Once a railroad
Now it's done...
'tis true. Both for the enemies who saw them as professionals, and for the soldiers themselves who felt they were part of something greater than the average. Must've been one hell of a morale boost. Speaking of intimidating looks, I have to dig up the photo I have where I pose as a german Gestapo agent turned Goth. (Not intentionally, but afterwards everyone went: you know, you look like those evil bastards...)

A new song, perhaps, rather than repeat the chorus again?
One should never discount one's enemies entirely, for they often have some very, very good ideas. Hitler didn't just rise to power on a wave of hate- he promised cars to everyone, holidays to everyone through saving programs that would allow the working class to afford luxuries like that. There were some very smart moves in there. If one could combine his strategy with some healthy liberal-democratic/socialist politics, you'd be on your way to winning- you'd appeal to everyone but the very rich and the very bigoted.

All in all, an exceptionally well-invented warmachine. Luckily for us it didn't work as intended in the end.

Yes... I may be white skinned and of purely north-west European descent, but somehow I doubt that my ideals, personal preferences and general personality would have given me much life expectancy under such a regime.
I find Britain's increasing levels of security paranoia stifling enough as it is!

*shudder*
Thankfully, not yet. Whilst the government may be full of paranoid assholes, the populace is increasingly uncomfortable with the security measures. I'm hoping for a LibDem swing at the next election, or at least enough of a one to force the actual winning party into effective coalition government.

An uncomfortable populace is good. That hopefully makes the government think twice, and you won't end up as the US where they pull off sick bills that have Orwellian tendencies.

Yay armchair philosophy!
I'm actually hoping the govts will start swinging towards Orwellian extremism. The farther they go, the more resistance there will be towards them, and the harder they'll fall when they finally get knocked to the ground. Then we'll be able to start from the beginning and attempt to create something better. Though maybe I've just been reading too much V for Vendetta. Hitler proved that probably doesn't work in practise.
As it is, it just feels like we've been polarised into RIGHT and LEFT, and there's no way we'll ever achieve anything together if we're all fighting amongst ourselves. The two main parties of the US and UK, Democrats and Republicans or Labour and Tory, play up their differences, but in the end they're all the same. We fight daily with people of "opposing" political beliefs over which party is better, when they both end up doing the same things, telling the same lies, starting the same wars and taking away the same freedoms.
I like the Lib Dems best, but mainly because I'm a student, and students are the main demographic they appeal to. The selfish middle-age majority of the UK prefer parties that enable them to have expensive cars and big TVs, and not see a foreign face when they go out to work.
On a lighter note, click me! Click me!

It could work in practice, but the danger probably lies in the vacuum that would emerge after the fall of the government, and when everyone rushes to have their party in power. Ofcourse, we nowadays can solve that with democracy.
Just don't blow up any Big Bens before I've seen it!
*and wished he didn't clicked* You bastard.

I just spent about four hours sitting in a bar talking to an old school goth who saw Christian Death live back when Rozz was still with them. We talked about fashion and about running a night and what the Batcave and the KitKatClub were like way back when, and talked about conditions and street art in the slums of Brazil.
And how did this happen? He saw my extravagant velvet waistcoat and red lace jabot, and asked if I was 'into goth clothing', since he had a load of old stuff from the eighties. So I'm inheriting the remains of his wardrobe and swapping CDs with him. This is cool.

Randomness eh?
Here's my thought for today:
Never piss of an anaesthesiologist or anyone who has access to anaesthesthetic drugs. They can kill you and leave no trace of evidence behind that they did it.

I was watching that show when it was airing. I wanted to punch her.
She also said a piccolo is a percussion instrument because they both start with a P.
And in the next question she dropped out (retired from the contest) because "it was the smart thing to do"
NO, you dumb bitch! The smart thing to do is fucking know the stupid trivia!
Since when is 'dropping out' a smart thing to do?

I'm in a very strange, happy mood today. I hope it lasts, but I fear that I base the happiness on false premises.
Maybe I should drop out.
