NO I HATE THEM BECAUSE THEY CLAIM TO BE PUNK

If they called themselves shitty indie that the alt.kids kids listen to, I'd still hat them, but they'd be tolerable.

Oh, wait. It's "punk rock cabaret," as if that makes any fucking difference.

And all their songs are lame.
And boring.

Actually, it's Brechtian Punk Cabaret. And I don't think they mean they ARE punk, but that their music has punk influence.
Like...death rock...it's not death, but it has that feeling.

They have no resemblance to punk.

Even if they are punks, which they're not, that doesn't make their music punk.

That's an opinion. You could say their fast paced drums are punk. Or anything else.
I don't personally think they're very punk either, but I can see how someone else would.

You could also say their fast-paced drums are in almost every form of rock.

If anything, they're indie, or normal rock.

Bands shouldn't be allowed to defame other genres by using part of their name.

I don't really think it's a big deal. Once again, I agree with you that they're not punk, I just don't think it's a big deal if other people think that they sound like they have punk roots.

But it's dilution of style. The lines are starting to fade for what's preppy and what's punk and what's raver and what's rivet.

Everything's going to shit.

Yeah, that's basically what I'm saying, but more of "mislabeled" not "straying from genres."

Granted, but didn't the Dolls in the first place call their genre 'Punk Cabaret' to distance themselves from Dark Cabaret? I have nothing against them and I do like some of their music, but it just sounds like they're substiuting Dark Cabaret with Punk, which you've mentioned.

Maybe we should make a dresden dolls thread in the music forum, since you guys seem so keen on arguing about them.
