Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I know there's at least one cover that I liked, but I can't think of it right now.
Overall, I hate covers. I think they're uncreative and generally lesser than the original. Just look at Manson to see what I mean.

Ah, now I remember. One of the few I do like is Bauhaus' cover of "Ziggy Stardust".

Rae Ven Rae,
Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" is haunting. First time I heard it I was truly moved.

Speaking of the Sisters... their cover of "Comfortably numb" that graciously turns into "Some Kind Of Stranger" is a pure masterpiece when it comes to covers.

Cradle did have one good cover. They just recently did a cover of Heaven 17's "Temptation". It was amazing because the original song was British technopop from the 80's and they managed to turn it into somewhat respectable hard rock/metal.

If you can find it, you should check out their cover of "Teachers," which they mix into "Adrenochrome." The version I have is from a 7" bootleg of a live show in April 1981 and it shows a much more post-punky beginning to the Sisters, rather than the primitive rock that their official EPs later displayed.

Oh, yes I remembered!
I love "A Strange Day" performed by Apoptygma Berzerk.
A.B. is a great band, plus their cover of enjoy the silence beats HIM and Lacuna Coil's version.

Trent Reznor's, "Hurt," as covered by Sad Kermit. It's just what the name of the group implies; the whole song, as sung in the Kermit the Frog voice.

I enjoy the hell out of almost anything Richard Cheese does, most notably Radiohead's "Creep" and Disturbd's "The Sickness". I also really liked Goldfinger's cover of "99 Red Balloons" and Type O Neg's cover of "Cinnamon Girl". And yes, I agree the live cover of "Enjoy the Silence" from Apop was damn good.

A.F.I Rocks "Just Like Heaven" pretty good. I also like Type O Negative's "Hey Joe" arrangement called "Hey Pete". Jimi of course Bones "Hey Joe" and "All Along the Watchtower"

Hell yeah! Sid is really cool. I'd also add my band's cover of "Sex and Violence" by The Exploited to my list. It was going good, until my bassist quit. Damn Bat Attack, you have really friggen sweet music tastes.
