Led Zeppelin
I honestly don't care how mainstream they are or how overrated you think they are but there's no denying that this is one of the most sucessful and influential bands in history.
Led Zeppelin
A revolution from Britain, an evolution of rock music.
They're the ones who gave heavy metal and hard rock their edge that makes them a genre in itself.
Formed in 1968, these legends became HUGE using their various ranges of sounds, somewhat merging together many sounds to create a unique sounds in itself that echoes many bands in these more modern times of rock music.
The band consisted of:
Robert Plant - Lead vocals
Jimmy Page - Guitar
John Bonham - Drums and Percussion
John Paul Jones - Bassist
19 albums released (not including the 2 CD Boxed Set Early Days and Latter days) All albums having a unique sound in itself, even monumental like the famous Hindenburg crash on the first album cover.
It's been 26 years since they've last been an active band but their music still lives on.
I loved this band for quite awhile and I'm sure alot of people here too have something to say about them.
I stated my opinion on this band, now it's your turn.
Oh, and one last opinion, Physical Graffiti is the shizzle.

Very true that, my mum still goes all nostalgic on me whenever I listen to Led Zep.
I think Black Dog would be one of my favourites, but they're all great songs. My only peeve is the length of the songs, they get kind of boring after ten minutes(Exaggeration!).

Led Zeppelin? Mainstream?
No no no no, m'dear Demonista. These guys were from an epoch where the were no mainstream bands. They were all just good, and that's why everybody likes them.

I think I know what Demonista means about mainstream. They seem to be a band that you don't have to truely listen to to say that you're a fan of. Their merchandise has become a fashion statement instead of a way to show that you like the band.

I once heard "Smoke On The Water" played by a Peruvian pan pipe band in Princes Street, Edinburgh.
I cannot begin to describe the levels of wrongness involved...

I see soooo many kids wearing their shirts. The one with the blue angel on it that they sell at Hot Topic. I'm sure most of these kids have only heard stairway before they bought the shirt. ick. kinda pisses me off. >_<
my first song i heard from them was "kashmir." it was beautiful.

The Zep is timeless. That statement gets proven with each new generation. They have very layered sound... bluegrass acid rock.

Yeah, Led Zep... One of the legend bands from Britain, including Pink Floyd (Syd died today RIP) that I doubt many bands formed in these times could live up to, not just in influence. Jimmy was quite a musician, not just playing guitar but a number of instruments for the band.
The 1st and fourth self titled are the best (or shizzle) in my humble opinion.

They are awesome. And "cool" kids have to say anything popular is overrated.
I have seen the Led Zeppelin t-shirts everywhere too, as with a lot of older bands. There was a kid at my school wearing a Black Sabbath t-shirt who didn't know a single song by them. That's the kind of thing that pisses me off. The same thing is happening with AC/DC, but I hate that band so I don't particularily care.

I love Led Zeppelin. And true, they were from a time where their music was just influential and all the bands from that time period could not classified as mainstream. I love them. I love the lengths of the songs. I really like Stairway To Heaven. I like the lyrics and the instrumentals in it. I just love Led Zeppelin all together.
