Dolls coming to life and killing me in my sleep is fictitious too, but it doesn't make those realistic dolls any less creepy. x_x;;; Seriously, I can't sleep in the same room with them.

You know whats scary AND real? Zombie ants.

That stick thing growing out of it is a fungus (Ophiocordyceps unilateralis), that takes control of the ant's brain, makes it crawl up a high plant, kills it and then bursts out of its body.

And don't make me post pictures of slugs and earwigs.

Remote controlled ants... scary.

I wonder what the reproductive purpose is for the fungus. The ants distribute the spores up high, so there is more chance of infecting other ants?

I think they can infect other ants because if other ants sense it they'll be kicked out of the colony, I can't remember the reason for the height advantage because when I was watching this on Planet Earth I had an attack of the willies.

Other things that scare me: Things that are in the ocean.

Why be afraid of something that's extremely unlikely? I understand phobias(I can't stand heights, crowds or wide open spaces), but if something has 0% chance of ever happening why be scared of it?

Saya, quit posting real zombies. You're making me nervous, dammit.

Because, Purple, for those of us with rather over-active imaginations, there's a not so tiny, very irrational part of our brains which can't help but wonder, "But what if it -isn't- fiction??"

My worst fear [and most likely most irrational one] is that of something fictional and scary turning out to be real.

Trust me; I -know- it isn't real, I -know- it doesn't make sense for me to stay awake because of a silly story, but if it were a rational fear [like spiders or snakes], I'd be deep in dreamland right now instead of up at nearly one in the morning with all the lights on and the TV blaring. >_< [Also, it's very hot, and that makes it difficult to sleep even without irrational fears keeping me awake.]

I used to swim in the ocean at the same beach a guy in the 1970s was attacked by a shark.

The only warning we had of sharks was a light aircraft that woudl fly overhead on a hot day (when the beach was crowded) with a siren blaring.

All the locals would get out and watch all the tourists still in the water. It was great fun

*shrugs* no idea how many times I swam with the sharkies and didn't know about it.

If I draw a picture of a ghost, it's not freaky. It's a crudely drawn picture of something that MIGHT be freaky if it were real. Which it's not.

I don't really give two shits on whether you do or don't think that certain things that "I" find freaky are actually scary or not. Go away, you're getting on my nerves.

Don't start a "Scary Shit Thread" if you're afraid of actually encountering things in it that might scare you, idiot!

Scariest shit on earth to me is parasites. Something real that can attack you unnoticed and maim, cripple or kill you in disgusting ways gets my phobic attention in a hurry. There's a series on Animal Planet called "Monsters Inside Me" hosted by biologist Dan Riskin. Here are the two parts to the interview Craig Ferguson conducted with Riskin to promote the show.

Part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S4G3ODnZY8

Part two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLbZS...eature=related

Second scariest shit on earth is people who go psycho over romantic relationships. See "Fatal Attraction" ... I can't watch it!

Chiller network runs marathons of if from 9-4 sometimes. I tend to get very little accomplished on those days.
