Hot Topic is okay for stuff once in a while. I'll get a newsboy hat or belt there. But if you shop there all the time, you're gonna look like everyone else. Whether or not that makes you a poser doesn't really matter to me, but it does make you unoriginal.
If you can't sew, go to Ebay and type in "DIY" in Clothes. A lot of people sell one of a kind clothes there that they reconstructed themselves. It's a little more expensive, but if you don't wanna look like everyone else but have two left hands then it's worth it. Plus, you're then supporting individual creativity and not a corporation.
And Hot Topic is not really Goth anyways. This is not according to my personal Goth-o-Meter, but due to the fact that they carry metal, punk, emo, and all that other stuff. That makes them more of an eclectic subculture corporate mechanism.

I'm with BH on that one. They're mainly punk and emo. I consider that a good thing, though. There's a better chance of keeping the posers out that way.
The one thing I do like about HT is the few times they actually have awesome t-shirts. My "Army of Darkness" shirt is my favorite shirt ever. Bruce Campbell freakin' rules!
As for me, I'll avoid sewing, and just continue to shop at Kohl's and whatnot. Hey, if I can get a shirt for $10 or less, I'm gonna do it, damn it. And I only keep a couple of pair of pants a year (or so). Enough to get through a week with. That's it. Those will all last me til I grow out of them. I will MAKE them last til I grow out of them.

She never apologized for personally slandering me and telling me to fuck off because I said she was wrong. I didn't want to post proof to embarrass her further, but she insisted on pushing the issue that she was right. I didn't want to start a fight, but I don't like when people are cocky about misinformation. Especially when they are trying to act better than everyone else. When I am wrong I can admit it... But i'm not going to say I'm wrong when I'm not because someone's got their panties in a twist and wants to play victim.

and she obviously didn't know it was wrong, and that solid proof that you gave her probably helped her out. apparently someone else gave her the wrong information. i don't really think it's her fault.
