cold climate poeple, I need ideas

Those of you who live in cold climates, show me some of your favorite items to keep warm in please! I need ideas.

I'm generally pleased with my boots and gloves, but am thinking about getting some hats and scarves and such of the more fashionable type. All my old stuff is so old that it's dying =( Generally speaking I don't reject death but I make an exception for when I'm hugging myself shivering like mad!

Thanks for your ideas!

M65 Jacket. Also, whiskey seems to warm me up nicely.

I have something like this one:

Mine is more of a green color.

Sadly, I need to save the booze for after my child watch and driving duties are over for the day or else I'd be chugging Jaeger non stop most likely.

Target seems to be on the ball this season with some pretty neat hats and scarves.

I recently bought this hat, and usually pair it with one of my Nightmare Before Christmas scarves.

The only difference is that mine has more of a bow on the side, and doesn't have the feathers.

My knitting projects for myself after Christmas will be the alien illusion scarf:

and I can't find a decent picture of it without it being on the head of someone, but I'll be making a kitty ear hat too. I also have a pattern for a devil horn hat but I'm making that for my sister ^_^ God I really love the Stich N Bitch book.

I haven't made mittens yet but I think I'll make green and black ones too to match the scarf.

A vintage United States Naval Academy overcoat that looks like this one was a lucky flea market find that keeps me quite comfortably warm and toasty during the cold winter months.

Layers layers layers. I was seriously warm when I was in the boonies for a weding 'cause I was wearing these stretch thermal things under my clothes. THen I layered about two shirts, two sweaters, and a jacket.
I probably looked fat but I was fucking warm.

That is awesome! What store did you find it at? Can the bottom face part be pulled down?

Saya, I am diggin' on the alien scarf too. if my bro Stenchachaun were still here with us I'd hire you to knit one for him! And a hat to match!

I just may decorate my military issue coat but don't really know what do to with it. Sew some bat patches onto the shoulders? Band patches placed randomly on the fronts and back? *shrug* Is is difficult to hand sew patches? I've never done it and don't own a machine. Though if I asked my Aunt nicely I could probably use one of hers.

I absolutely love the M65 that I have. However, what keeps me nice and toasty at -30c is my MA-1.

Also, I like buying plain black ski masks and then bleaching designs in to them.

I don't actually own one, but I wish I did XD
I think it's basically a ski face mask with cat ears sown onto them. I'm gonna bet that the bottom part can, indeed, be pulled down.

I always wanted one of those vintage military overcoats. The wool material would be overkill for the subtropical climate I currently reside in, however.

I own one with the cold weather inner liner for when it gets really cold. I prefer my M-1951 cold weather field jacket though, it was my Grandpa's when he was in the Marines, so it always has had a nostalgic value, plus it's warm as hell.

No shit girl! I have creams of multiple formulas stashed all over the house. And in my purse. And in my car. And pockets. Well, everywhere!

I posted on the board of my local mama friends around here. Lots of them knit. I'm hoping one of them will make me ears and then I can stuff + sew them onto one of my hats.

Lots of layers and thermal underwear. There's also these packets that you can crush and put them in your gloves or boots. They keep your hands or feet warm. I forgot what they are called though.

Yup, I've been getting by with layering and thermals. Leaning more toward the punk side of fashion rather than the classic-romanti-goth style that I prefer. We've had quite a warm week-plus-some in the weather department so haven't felt as whiny about it =) I know those heat thingies you're talking about. Great idea, but won't work for me because they make me get way too hot.
