The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, by Patricia C. Wrede
Just became a member, and I'm already posting my own threads. Go me.
Ahem.
So, what I was interested in knowing was if anyone here was reading, or has read The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, by Patricia C. Wrede?
Now now, if we look at it stereotypically I know those books aren't exactly gothic (not at all, actually) but I can at least hope someone has read it.
Anyway. I ramble a lot today.
The first book in the series is about the princess Cimorene, who simply doesn't want to behave like a princess should; she wants to cook, fight and do magic. So when her parents, the king and queen, decide to marry her off to a prince, Cimorene takes advice from a frog and runs away from home, intent on making her own life. Following the frog's advice she ends up becoming the dragon Kazul's princess, something which Cimorene realizes suits her just fine.
Of course, not everyone thinks it's a good idea, and with wannabe-rescuers and meddling wizards, Cimorene gets her hands full with trying to save the dragon society.
So, have anyone read them? If so, what did you think about them? Personally I think they're magnificent books, and it's not uncommon for me to read them over and over.
