zombies because cannibals couldn't keep up.

The list can go on. And they all have different ways of getting to you. may it be slow or fast but they keep coming.
But cannibals, well they are not the living dead so that would mean they are alive, can possibly drive, and probably make traps and stuff.
We can see here that if it was a fight/battle etc between you and a Cannibal you will probably lose. unless you got some restraining order.

But if it was a fight between the zombie and a cannibal. I'm pretty sure the cannibal would turn down the zombie flesh. Would you eat a rotting steak?

Awesome, Duane.

I think it also depends on how old the zombies are. I don't think cannibals will eat meat once it's spoiled, and some zombies are literally rotten. That gives them an advantage. Also, most zombie types create new zombies from their victims, which means they will increase their numbers much faster.

The cannibals don't eat long dead rotten flesh, the zombies do, and if the cannibals tried, the cannibals would get sick and die thus becoming zombies. Everything becomes a zombie in the end, you can't fight it.
