Die Artze (really old kraut-rock punk band...Eine Kleine Jagermeister...)
Trio (Da Da Da)
Clan of Xymox
De/Vision
Wolfsheim
Blutengel
Oomph!
Funker Vogt
Front 242
Deine Lakaien
Diary Of Dreams
Nina Haggen (what a crazy fucked up bitch she was - brilliant, too)
X-mal Deutschland
Lacrimosa...

...and then of course, there's Falco (rock me Amadeus) and Nena (99 Red Ballons), unless you wanna go with Modern Talking (if you never heard of them, consider yourself lucky and do not ask).

and if you wanna consider bands that sing in German, The Young Gods, Laibach, The Sisters Of Mercy and many more...

And there were these really old bastards called Wagner, Offenbach, Strauss sr. and jr. (Austrian, do not confuse), Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Brahms amongst others. You may have heard of some of them...

Nike would be a lot better use than I, even if only to tell that austrians apart from the krauts, but she's also aware of a lot more bands than I.

Yeah, I just think they suck

I ain't got all day to name German bands, but I'm sure a few members here can come up with a lot more (especially Industrial bands).

I'm not senile, I'm ancient. I'm a bloody artefact, for Chriss' sake! Get it right! :P

hm...let me think...

english lyrics:
Project Pitchfork- electronic, good lyrcs, nice music, their old stuff sounds much different to thir new, Ilike both, though.Dhyani and Daimonion are 2 of my favourite albums.

Love Like Blood- gothic rock, new stuff going a bit more into metal; exspecially their old stuff is awesome, Sinister Dawn/Ecstasy, Flags of Revolution, Odyssee, and Irony of Fate...their English was sometimes a bit interesting

New Days Delay, I've seen them live once, very nice female voice, goth rock (I'd say, but I'm not good with music categories)

-->Avaritia One of the guys from New Days Delay left the band and founded Avaritia, I think they're nice, too

Darc Entries

Kiss The Blade (Austrian)

Dreadful Shadows..hm, some of their stuff is a bit too romantic for my taste

hm..some more Austrian: L'Ame Immortelle and Sonja's sideproject Persephone (which I like better)

Mila Mar-phantasy lyrics, similar concept as Dead Can Dance
Second Decay-English/German mixed, synth pop (I think)

German with german lyrics:

Das Ich are my favourite.
Goethes Erben-poetry combined with music, sometimes a bit experimental, quite interesting, lots of good stuff

Artwork-one of their sideprojets, me likes a lot; both english and german lyrics

One example for medieval with german lyrics: Corvus Corax (they have nice live shows, too)

fun stuff with german lyrics:
JBO
Knorkator
but I don't know if it's so funny if you don't understand the lyrics

there are more I think, but I have to leave now

front 242 are not German, Mael, I think they are from Belgium, but I'm not entirely sure, could be France also.

Umm... these are what I can think of right now..

Yage - real emo, with lots of screaming, melodic, yet totally crushing and razor-sharp guitars. Good drummer.

Can - essential psychedelic krautrock, influential to Joy Division and basically all post-punk.

Neu! - also skeletal krautrock, maybe more leaning towards the harsh, noisy side than the percolating psych of can.

...plus there's a lot of good minimal and ambient electronic music from Germany.

Hi! - by the way. Hope you are well.

Oh, you're excused, Nike, since you have a life outside of obsessively collecting music, that involves cool and respectable activities like drawing, studying and archaeology. But still, if you're not averse to a bit of psychedelia, long songs and all that, Can and Neu! are (were) amazing. Damo Suzuki, the singer in Can... one of the greats, surely.

Why thank you, very much. We do aim to please.

Just kidding here. I was never into the minimalist stuff too much. "Model" is the only song of theirs (kraftwerk) that I can withstand.

As for the Scorpions, it really just comes down to "Still Loving You" and "Holiday". "When the Smoke Is Going Down" on a good day.
