The best comic books ever

Donna Mia is one. Its about a female succubus and the art work is fantastic and highly erotic!

The other is Tarot about a Wiccan family. The art work is fantastic but, wheras Donna Mia is serious horror with a highly involved plot, Tarot is often super-heroish, but there is still a lot of great art and nudity.

Frank Miller: Ronin
Outlanders
HellBlazer

The Dark Knight Returns
Terminator: Burning Earth
Books of Magic
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
Lobo: Paramilitary Christmas Special
White trash

there's more I'm sure...

Frank Miller rocks. The G4 station did an interview/profile on him a while back, featuring Sin City.

I like the 80's marvel books and a few of the dark horse books. It's been a while since I read comics, though. Got into Full Metal Alchemist and a few of the Anime stories lately. I like to read the books and then watch the toons, to see the differences.

Are you talking about "manga". In that case I like Diabolo.

Manga is the same thing as a comic book, i'm thinking you just don't like the art style right?

Mine include:
JTHM
The MAXX
Berserk
Grendel

I actually got to meet and hang with Frank Miller on several occasions. Dark Horse comics (publisher of sin city and some other Miller works) is based here in Milwaukie, Or. In addition to that, Pegasus books (now Things From another World) was very closely tied to Dark Horse - basically like an extension of the family business - and as such various Dark horse collaborators would be at the comic shop I went to doing promotional gigs for whatever works they were pushing - pretty much all the time. I met a bunch of the guys (more than I can remember) but Frank... now there's a lasting impression.

Granted I was younger so we never talked about the workings of the universe but in between his trips to the corner bar every ten minutes he was very cordial and spouted off a bunch of nonsense as well. The man's mind works as no other I've seen - of course it wasnt just booze in his system but we dont want to start any rumors. He also signed a bunch of stuff for me.

Even still - looking back I wish I would have put my money towards a cooler car than all those damned comics - I have boxes and boxes of them and I stopped collecting like... eight or nine years ago?

OH - and TStone is right about the history of Image. We were THERE man...

Since I mentioned Tarot, the comic book about a wiccan family, I thought I should give the link of her creator, Jim Balent.

http://www.jimbalentstudios.com

Still though, Donna Mia is my favorite. Perhaps somebody has a link to her pictures?

In the great tradition of people who create stoopid top 5 lists, I've now thought of other comic books I'd like to put in there but can't because that would show my decisions lack integraty. I wold like to mention Dog witch, Lenore, serenity rose, Zero girl, Hell Blazer and the Maxx are all damn fine comics as well.

I used to love chaos comics and my most favourite was Chastity. Then they gave her a bunch of little friends so she went from being "lone mosh bitch huntress of the night" to this perky lil' girly girl. It ruined it for me. Of course that was years ago. Story lines change. BUT HEARTS NEVER MEND!!! WHY CHASTITY WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really like Elfquest, Aria and Storm.

I've also been reading manga for about a year now. I like everything by CLAMP, especially xxxHolic and Tsubasa, Wish and Lawful Drug.

I just moved to a new town and found an awesome comic book store. They sell Fangoria magazines and such. I want to get JTHM but is it overrated or just really good?

Depends on what you like in a comic book.

JTHM is by far a comedy to read, but it also gives rise to how a person may look at certain things as well. It kinda makes you think somewhat. Overall its violent, funny, and thought provoking at the same time. Again, it depends on what you like.

Oh it sounds wicked thanks for that. I really like Vampires, morbid things, dark humour, and everything you described for JTHM pretty much. Any others you can suggest??

The only comic book that I really remember, other than Archie comics (haven't read them in a long time), is the Sandman comics. I don't own any, but my friend does. We would get them for her for her birthday and Christmas and then read them as soon as she was done. I loved those. Maybe I'll borrow them from her in the summer and read them again.

If you want just read any of Jhonen Vasquesez works, they all contain relevently the same kinds of things, but on different levels. I think his work is genius, and I can't help but laugh when I read his stuff...

Give it a shot dreamforthedead, you just might enjoy it.
