You'd be surprised how many people think it is. Actually, Jillian, no, you wouldn't be. Oh, how I chuckle when people say they've actually read it.

Anyway, you'd have to treat a book like that carefully, wouldn't you... I mean, wouldn't want to damage the spine....

Fascinating. I suppose it could be creepy, but I am curious as to what these books feel like.

I would think that they would feel a lot like leather due to the fact that they seem to go through the same processes and the fact that leather is animal skin.

Ok so moving on:

I dont like the idea of reading a book made of human skin. It's disgusting. Extremely old human skin must smell extremely gross, and feel very strange. I'd have to read the book with my head above the toilet bowl.

I don't think I would be able to touch it. I would just stare at it, and maybe poke it.

If I ever write a book (especially a memoir!) I want it to be bound in me when I die.

I like that idea. To bad I didn't get to choose what the book that published one of my poems was bound in.

Quick question...
Was the book with your poem called Twilight Musings?

Hmmm...
That's what I'll do when I die...have a book of my own raps bound in my buttcheeks, informing readers to 'kiss the cover'.

Well, if I'm ever in a gruesome car accident and need my leg amputated, I know what to do with the skin. Think about it - it's a keepsake!

Strange, yet oddly intriguing (as most strange things are).

This reminds me of cannibalism. Oh, horrible, horrible cannibalism.

I think it would be cool if you had a scar or something that was visible on the cover. Yeah....

Thats really cool, yet just a tad on the disgusting part. I'd like to read those books for the feel, I wouldn't care how boring they were!

I would donate my skin to that! (But only if they promise to take it off after I'm dead.)

A robber's memoirs bound in his own skin? Now if that book doesn't have a ghost inclusive, then nothing does.

bound in skin vs. written on skin...

Early versions of The Bible were written on calfskin that had been oiled, called vellum.
Parchment came later. Sometimes the skin was taken from stillborn or even unborn animals.

I wonder if any of these books are written on human vellum?

That's somewhat amusing, very interesting, and a little bit disturbing. Reminds me of all those emo kids who cut words into their wrists and such for some reason. Not saying I don't have my own scars, but they were for a purpose, not decoration or an excuse to call myself goth. The thought of binding a book in human skin is pretty cool. I'm sure it'd freak a lot of people out...I'd just like to know what human leather feels like. You'd think it'd be pretty smooth, since our skin isn't very thick. Compared to calf skin, I'm sure it'd have to be really delicate. Hmmm.

I can just imagine the medical text's section about the skin. "The flesh is covered in a fine, multilayered organ called the skin........ Reference: cover."

*shrug*

Maybe it's because I have absolutely, well.....no... have very little regard for human life. To me...it's skin. I don't find it any more gruesome than animal leather, and I love leather. So, it's not so gross to me. :3

::shudders:: Am I the only one grossed out by this? Ick. This is why I'm not even an organ donor. I'd like to keep my body intact in death, thank you.

I'd pay to have skin grafts removed from my upper legs and made into leather for that diary/USB solidstate drive I want.

Sounds like fun.
