Do you eat a special diet by choice?

Do you eat a special diet by choice? If so, what and why? Examples of special diets would be low carb, high protein, low calorie, low fat, low salt, vegetarian, organic, no dairy, no wheat etc.

Yes, I am a vegetarian. I think I need to get my diet changed, because I am not in a good condition.

I'm vegan, and I do it for the lullz.

Just kidding, I just wanted a reason to say that. I'm really vegan but I do it for animal welfare.

Low fat, low-ish carbs (by which I mean mostly bread) . I'm 98lb's overweight so that needs sorting.

I´m a flexible vegan. That means that I´m vegan, but if there isn´t any vegan food available (try getting something vegan when out on town at 4 am on a sunday...) I will grudgingly eat products with dairy or eggs in them. I always cook vegan myself, though.

When I cook for myself I'm a vegetarian and avoid unnecessarily processed foods (if I can make it at home, I don't buy it). When cooking for carnivores or eating out at restaurants with scant vegetarian options I don't really care though.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same way. Anything I cook at home is vegetarian. If I'm out, and need to eat, I'll eat whatever is handily available. But, I don't eat out much. It's a once in a month kind of deal for me. I definitely do not consider myself a vegetarian, even though I haven't had any meat in a month. Moderation is why.

Eating out is way too expensive to do frequently. It's a special occasion deal for me.

I don't bother using the word vegetarian to people feeding me, it just makes them assume I'm strict about it and go to more effort than they need to. Or in the case of meals on planes they confuse it with vegan and neglect to serve me my chocolate mousse.

Ooo no chocolate mousse? I'd be quite upset.

I try to eat local but that can be a bit of a challenge, thankfully I'm in an area where there is a lot of large scale production in the area, though the local dairy that delivered milk and eggs went under so no more of that yummy goodness.

Not by choice, no. Though I predict this week of bland, unfried foods and as few sodas as possible -will- make me feel better.

bland is bad, spice things up a bit, herbs and spices are good for you (just don't use too much salt)

My diet is really unhealthy. A lot of junk food and a ton of caffeine. I like meat, but I don't eat a lot of it. I wander a lot, and when I'm on the move a cooked meal is a rarity. Nothing says freight train hopping like a bag of beef jerky and a 40 ounce of King Cobra.

A bowl of cereal in the morning, microwaveable meal at lunch, and another at dinner. At work I have a soda, and maybe a couple of apples.

I think that's funny, 'cause for some reason everybody I know that's tried to make me something vegan has opted for vegan chocolate mousse.

Vegan chocolate mousse would be my first choice for a vegan dessert. It's easy to leave out dairy and eggs and keep it delicious when chocolate is involved.

Shit, from experience it's fantastic. Granted, I haven't had nonvegan chocolate mousse in quite some time so my comparison could be off, but we're in agreement about chocolate fixing all of life's problems.

Too late, ate the whole batch since.

But I will give thee the recipe: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6559.0

I just used coconut milk instead of margarine (because I'm healthy like that) and added chocolate chips, I added them too early and they all melted, but it turned out to be a good thing!

I don't eat any dairy.
It makes my allergies and skin worse.
