L. Ron Hubbard copied Lenin's test
So, you know how scientologists are fucking pussies that hide behind claims of intellectual property and copyright infringement when you quote their own information to make fun of them?
I remembered something that happened two years ago and wanted to share it.
There was this guy who joined our student group on campus. We all knew he was a scientologist and first he tried to hide it, but more and more he clearly wanted to push scientology on us and make the group a scientology front.
He used to dislike socialism, which begs the question of why he would want to be in the group but of course the answer is obvious now. But he got more and more into a type of socialism after he found some L Ron Hubbard books against capitalism.
His views were more Alex Jones NWO bullshit than Marx, but I remember this particular day that he brought a book that he wanted to discuss and he kept saying look at how "the great L Ron Hubbard" (no bullshit) explained the imperialist attitude of capitalism and he kept quoting.
I kept nodding because what he was saying was technically correct, but I so badly wanted to tell him
"Dude, this is Imperialism: the Highest Stage of Capitalism by Lenin"
There's an actual fucking book that is word for word the works of V.I. Lenin but has the name L. Ron Hubbard printed in its cover and scientologists actually sell it!

Guess he was just looking for a philosophy to belong to/push on others.
Every so often I pass Scientologists handing out free "stress-tests" in the subway.
I have to fight with myself not to troll them.

The only time I got approached by Mormons it was these two hot twins who wanted to give me their number and come over and talk to me about Jesus. They just stopped me in the street. They asked me if I heard about the Mormon church and I was like "uh...yes". They asked "Where to?" And I had to stand there looking like a retard for the longest time trying not to say "South Park."
I haven't met a Scientologist yet. If I ever do I think I'd get excited, then proceed to study them.

I think you're fortunate, Saya. It doesn't really bother me when they stop me on the street, but what irks me is when they come to my door and want to come into my home to talk about Jesus. Repeatably.
How aggressive are Scientologists about converting people, generally? I've never met one is why I'm curious. Mormons are the only ones to actively try and convert me in person, so I view them as the most aggressive, but I think statistically, it's probably Christians.

They all are rather aggressive in trying to convert, however my biggest annoyances these day are mainly because of scientologists and mormons and jehoves witnesses. The scientologists have a commercial every two hours trying to mislead people to their religion, while the other two knock on your door every month for the same reason. I'm tired being told i'll perish in the depths of hell for being Atheist, yet to actually be a part of their religion i'd be commiting a horrible sin and burn in the fiery depths of hell.... actually i don't know scientologist divine punishment belief is, but whatever, their all fucking crazy anyways.

I know when we were a kid we had a problem with Jehovah Witnesses, I can't remember much but I remember one day I went into the kitchen, which had a window overlooking the porch, and mom was hiding behind the counter, and she told me to get down and hide from the window. Dad was talking to them and was getting angry, I don't remember what was said and I really didn't understand at the time, but it ended when dad threatened to set the dog on them. I know they still go by once in a blue moon but I'm never the one to open the door, sadly.
Aren't Mormons Christians? Of an odd variety?

You know that I'm a religious studies major, right? As in the objective study of various religions, not theology. Chances are, this is going to be how I make a living.
I don't think it deserves fair consideration and I never once said that. However, what people believe and why the believe it never ceases to fascinate me, and the dumber and sillier it gets, its sad but its interesting, right? I don't want to be expounding the Diamond Sutra until the day I die. I realize its not always funny, and I do know the crimes the church has committed, but I never met an actual practitioner. How do they get the every day joe? What do they tell this every day joe? That I know of they don't really tell you about Xenu and all that crazy jazz until you're a higher up level. Why do they swallow it up? I'm aware a lot of it is brainwashing, but the fact that adults can be introduced to an idea like that is mind boggling. Why not study how they do it? I'm curious enough about people to want to know more about them, no matter how ugly it gets. Scholars wouldn't get anything done if they had your driving curiousity.

I saw the South Park episode, I just wasn't sure if Versus considered them Christian (who witnesses more, probably Christians) or if he meant Mormons vs other Christians. I'll try to keep the book in mind.
And I've been told I'm the most frustrating person to witness to, thank you, no Tom Cruise chores for me. Killing them with kindness is usually most effective, they usually want to argue and get pissy when they don't get it.
