I'd actually go as far to say that many industrial acts are strongly inspired by techno.

... I think you meant that the other way around. Industrial came before Techno.

I'm aware, but there's still a lot of influence in both from the other.

But when you get down to it, I don't really like either of them.

I think you might mean "darkwave," "EBM," or "futurepop." I enjoy it all as well.

Please, if you want people to take you seriously, type out "one" instead of "1." It's really not that difficult.

Well I'm going to try a futile argument on the "industrial came before techno" bit. What about Tangerine Dream people? Founded in 1967 and still going. Even though they are a bit more ambient and krautrock leaning, they could be considered techno. I suppose I'm completely wrong here.

I was thinking about it, and then I remember She Wants Revenge. They're pretty techno-ey, and pretty gothic-ey. and I love them.

Also very much a rip off of Joy Division. Still extremely enjoyable though.

I suppose you can say that. but they don't really give off that aura when I listen to them. The only time I care if a band truly 'rips off' another band is when you can't even listen to them without thinking they're ripping of another band. Kind of like Interpol (don't get me wrong. I love interpol) Sometimes I'm like "wow, I'd rather be listening to Joy Division.

Techno started in the '80's as a genre.

I think Interpol has a unique enough sound though. Don't get me wrong, I can see the influence, but they're different enough for me to be happy, and the same with She Wants Revenge.

Hell with it. They can both be tossed in the rip off category.

For some unknowable reason, I never could quite get into either Interpol or She Wants Revenge.
