Omg...
This is a wii post so sorry for bad grammar.
My brothers child minder is 23 male, he told me today his cousin was goth, I asked what bands she was into and he gives me this putrid list consisting of bands such as linkin park.
We then got into a debate. He was trying to convince me that being a goth is all about clothes and heavy metal, I told him about music before fashion and that most metal bands aren't gothic, I told him I wasn't backing down so he told me that chavs cant be considerd chavs unless they listen to chav music.
I told him that chavs didnt start from music it started from antisocial behaviour.
So who is right in this argument guys?

Neither.
Goth is a lifestyle and a mind set. It is not judged by what music you listen to. You can still be goth and listen to whatever music you want.
It's just like not ALL goths wear all black all the time. It's a stereotype.

Actually, Chazz, you're right. Goth is really not much but just the music. But then there's such a diverse spectrum in gothic rock (I mean, who would confuse Diary of Dreams with 45 Grave?), so what's with that?
It's because Goth is basically summed up in the Batcave and that ends all discussions.
But still, goth is much more about music than fashion, mindset, and heavy metal (I mean come on!)

Oh, do use utter politeness, as with all touchy people. While the people who exhibit questionable nettiquite are made aware of their mis-deeds, it serves no purpose to hound them unless they've done something particularly heinous. In that case we throw rotten net.fruit at them.
