Eggplant tomato sauce
-courtesy of raggedyanne's mom:

3 big cans tomato (crushed not chopped)
3 1/2 pounds firm eggplants
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
about 1 1/4 pounds (3 cups) onions finely chopped
2 tsp salt or to taste
5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/2 tsp hot red pepper flakes (optional)
4 large branches fresh basil (4 tbsp when chopped)

Trim and peel eggplant. Cut them lengthwise in 3/4 inch wide slices, stack the slices, chop into 3/4 inch chunks. Saute the oil, onions, and 1/2 tsp salt in saucepan. After five min. add garlic and let it carmelize. Stir in a couple tablespoons of water vand let onions and garlic cook together for a min. or two.
Pour eggplant pieces into pan, sprinkle on 1 tsp salt, turn and coat the pieces with the oil, garlic, and onion mixture. Cook over medium to low heat, uncovered, stirring and turning the eggplant mixture frequently. Add water if pan gets dry or pieces start to brown. Cook for 12 - 15 minutes or until eggplant chunks are very soft, but retain their shape. Pour in tomato mixture. Rinse cans with one cup water per can, add to pan. Sprinkle on 1/2 tsp salt, and the pepper flakes if desired. Stir it all together. Submerge masil branches (or chopped leaves), cover pan, raise heat to medium.
When it starts to boil, lower the heat to simmer and cook for 40 minutes or so.
Uncover pan after 40 minutes and let sauce gradually reduce. Stir as it thickens, as not to let the eggplant stick to the bottom. Cook uncovered for 45min. to an hour until it reaches the consistency you like. If using basil leaves AND branches, pull out before serving. You can freeze the leftover sauce. it keeps well for a couple months and is great for impromptu guests or backpacking trips.

I have pretzals, nummy nummy pretzals. I've been wanting them since April, and now I HAVE them. I want to dance, but than it would detract from my pretzal-eating.

Angry Re: Randomness

It's Wednsday evening, I'm hot as hell (in the eighties and sunny, bleh) and I have only two more weeks of school left. I am the only Goth in my grade, and it sucks because the popular bitches get bitchier by the second. School in general for me sucks. *gloom* I have to date a nerd. He's nice, but not into my thing. He doesn't like what I do, and lets his stupid religion think for him instead of doing it himself. He actually believes that apocalypse shit.

Meh, I'm new. Someone talk to me.

Today, 3 people approached me and asked me how to be goth, because apparently they wanted to be gothic. 0_o
It was scary. They actually ASKED me where to buy white face paint.

I was kind of cruel about it, because I really don't like them.
I told them to shop exclusively at Hot Topic, and referred them to a local clown shop for the face paint.
Then I told them not to actually dye their hair black ("because dye is so mundane,) but use the black hair spray that stores sell near Halloween.
...
Annoying kids. Honestly. They were talking about who was gother than who.

...A commercial just came on. there was a whole bunch of people in a forest kicking trees. One of them wore a pink Longstocking-esque wig. He suddenly stopped kicking the tree, and started talking about big, juicy burgers. Then all the people rallied screaming about burgers.
...
I adore advertisements.

I like the one with the singing bunny, and the skittles. Skittles are yummy. Especially the sour green ones.
