Um...that song that's on the radio, The Widow? Yeah...that's a DUDE singing! They opened for System of a Down and when they started singing that song, I said "Hey that dude has that chick's voice down pretty go-wait a minute...first Taylor Hanson is a dude and now this?!"

But yeah, totally sounds like a chick from Heart or something, but a really really skinny hispanic dude with a ginormous afro.

So I am listening to it again going "ahhhhh yeah that's a dude."

I believe he did, as he pointed it out to me in the General--> Introduction thread, because mine was from an Elliott Smith song as well from Figure 8.

oh, cool. what do you think of his last album? I love it, I think it's beautifully constructed.

Right now I'm listening to HIM's album Razorblade Romance. I heart Ville Valo!

I wish I could say I have heard it. I'm a little behind. This is the posthumous album, right? I will make sure to pick it up soon. I'm behind on so many things. Money has been tight lately, but there are so many records I would like to pick up.

Anyway, keeping with the thread:

NP - Depeche Mode - Sacred

just changed:
NP - The Mission - Tomorrow Never Knows

It's pretty great, but in my opinion his early albums are the best. They show perfectly how much he could do with limited resources at hand, just amazing songs played on an acoustic guitar with minimal (if any) backing, recorded on tape. Pure genius. The first, self-titled one and Either/Or are my faves. Of course, XO and Figure 8 aren't bad either, but I feel that the fleshed-out instrumentation lessens the emotional impact of the songs to a certain degree. Not significantly, but just a tiny bit. You can't really say anything outright bad about any of his records, though.

Currently listening to something totally not Elliott Smith-ish:

Funeral Diner - Chalk Angels

Just can't get enough of the screamo these days...

[quote=Empty_Purple_Stars]Does anyone else see the beautiful irony in the above ^^ post?

Well, fuck. That was fucking funny, wasn't it. Then again, I should've expected that from you.

Yes. I love that untitled album and Either/Or. I love Neeldle in the Hay and Christian Brothers. Haunting.

1# Zero- Audioslave

This song shows Chris Cornell's vocal talents...though I do wish that Soundgarden were back together.

I've been listening to a lot of Icon of Coil lately- mostly the Uploaded and Remixed cd in the morning to get me up and moving. Sometimes industrial in the morning is better than a cup of coffee!
