The one's I've met have. Then again, I suppose everyone is enchanted with something shinny and new at first with anything.

I get furries/otherkin/therians/people with totem animals/whatever who feel a connection with a type of animal and I understand why some of them enjoy wearing a physical representation of that animal (ears/tales/what-have-you), I just don't get the people who have a fetish for that kind of stuff

I just don't get it for the same reason I don't get any attempt to materialize, humanize, and objectify spirituality.
Basically I put furries in the same level as religious people. And if anyone find that offensive, it just means they're thinking with pre-conceived notions of either of these two people. If you think critically about it a little, you'll see why I see them as equals.

I do believe in a lot of inexistent things based not on what is but on what ought to be.
I believe in the metaphysics of quality.
I believe in the inherent goodness of humankind.
I believe that the two concepts of Liberty and Equality balance each other when arbitrated by Fraternity.
I believe evolution is increasing exponentially.
I believe as soon as this system is overthrown, with the current globalization of information, oppression will finally become obsolete.
Yet these beliefs are (in the very least) more than half based on decent evidence, and conjectured by the reasoning my experience as a human being has accrued.
I don't see how personal animal totems and paternal spiritual crutches can be based on evidence more than on personal preference and defense mechanisms.

I actually have an irrational hatred for furries.
Yes, yes, I know it's closed minded and shitty of me, but goddamn furries need to get some lives.

I share Jillian's sentiment.
When the world that you expected to work with you has failed you, you tend to reach out for something to make it all better. Sadly, many people forget that it's within them to do so.

I admire cats because of their equilibrium. There's a whole martial arts discipline based on imitating the tiger.
I like this.
Imitating the feline within the human's physical boundaries allows for a lot of strength, resistance, and swiftness. Excellent for parkour.
But liking cats doesn't mean I'm spiritually one.

I wear red pard-print cat ears all the time, but not cuz I feel like I'm a cat or should be a cat. I wear them as an accessory because I think they're cute.
I figure whatever floats your boat, as long as basic rules of decency are observed.

Furries, aren't they the sickoes that get off sexually on animal/human drawings and animal behaviour?
We have one of those on this education I am on, he keeps on blabbering about his catgirl porn, and it pisses me off -.-"
(If I am in fact wrong and thinking of something else, I apolagize. I am far from sure.)

Yeah gurl, shit's fucked up. They be rubbing they chodes to Pokemon porn.
I'm guessing the vast majority of furries are socially inept. Seriously, that shit is just fucking weird and disgusting. I'm not the type to judge fetishes or sexual orientation in a serious way, but there's a reason why everyone who isn't one of those sad jack-offs tend to loathe them.
Note: I'd bother to find something more eloquent to say than "wierd and disgusting" but is there really any better way to put it?

Imma bust a cap in yo' fat, cellulite-covered, cracka ass.

That episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force still makes me die laughing... Hell, any episode of a show where they trash on furries makes me laugh.
Even though the episode makes no sense, it still manages to slag furries pretty good... so it's alright in my books.

Mainly because most of the people I've met who do that kind of thing are completely delusional.
I mean, feel free to LARP but... don't do it in public. That's more of a "parent's basement" kind of thing.
Most of the world doesn't care that you have a fascination for boning animals...

im sorry you met the dirty underbelly of the fandom and i completely agree for those in the fandom who feel the urge to make love in costumes or even love animals(eeeewwwwww thats sooooo wrong) and it is a justified reason to not like the fandom i am sorry you met those in the fandom who give us a bad name and i hope you have better encounters with the fandom in the future

Another possible reason as to why many people seem to dislike furries is because most of them seem to insist on announcing their preferences to all and sundry.
