Cassandra. Like the Trojan Princess. I go by Cassy Though. (just like Cassie, but my parents can't spell, lol)
I was almost named Doris or Olive. Being an Onomastics freak, I love threads like this.
Liusaidh!!!! beautiful name. (It's the Scottish form of Lucia, which is one of my favorite names. I also love Elspeth, The Scottish form or Elizabeth)

My real name's Janna.
I like it, especially because NO ONE seems to be able to pronounce it or spell it right. *lol* I mean, it seems simple enough, right, but you should hear some of the crazy variations I get...

I'm Jessi. Well, Jessica, but there's only a handful of people who actually call me that normally. I was supposed to be a Jennifer, but when I was born my mom took one look at me and decided that I was definitely a Jessica. Oddly enough, for my whole life, people have told me I look like a Jennifer. My neighbor actually called me Jennifer for the longest time because I was too shy to correct her. My little sister eventually corrected her for me. My name doesn't really bother me, except no one can spell it right. Nor my last name, which I won't reveal here due to obvious safety concerns, but let's say it closely resembles the name of a common brand of candy and no one seems able to note the difference. *shrugs* Oh well. If all goes as planned, I'll be an Elliott some day, and I won't have to worry about it.
Oh, and on the topic of horrible names, there's this chick who used to live where I live, and her last name was Christmas. As if that wasn't bad enough, her parents named her Merry. Not even Mary, but Merry. And she had a brother Noel or something like that. I also know a Sunny Paradice, but I think her name is pretty awesome actually.

Including my mother... My older sister is called Jessica. I was always jealous of her having a prettier name than me, haha.
I'm really not to keen on my real name, so I won't bother sharing it. Anyone friends with me on myspace would know it already anyway.

My name is Zachary, which is incredibly boring to me, I don't know, maybe it's because I grew up with it, and it seems to be a pretty popular name in my high school, it's a bible name... Jesus' uncle, and the father of John the baptist. I choose on the internet though to go by Edward, due to my vague resemblence to Edward Scissorhands (so I've been told), and to my edwardian fashion which I tend to look like when I dress at all formally.

My real name is actually Minyaliel. Or, that's my middle name, but I rarely use my first name anyway because no one is able to pronounce or spell it correctly. Grrr. I'm planning on changing my name soon anyway, so if all goes well it's going to be Vittoria Minyaliel.

HOLY SHIT.
such people (the parents) should be hanged. That is just so cruel.
In Russia, I knew someone who's last name, when traslated into english was "Grave". The guy kicked ass so that fit him perfectly.
A less kick ass name was, when translated, "Pisser". i have always felt very sorry for that particular person.

I knew a girl in primary school with the rather unfortunately double-barreled surname Sharpe-Payne.

I must disagree with this. A name is what you are called. This sound takes on the MEANING OF YOU, making it your identity. A name without a person behind it is, for me, rather worthless. But as soon as I associate someone with the name, it takes on form.
My name being Morgana, I have always seen myself behind the sound. i would say the name itself is rather wierd and I probably wouldn't like it. But being called Morgana growing up I have always known this sound means me, and have, I believe also let the name influence my personality. Were I called Olga or something, maybe I wouldn't even be on this forum now.
I think it works like this for all. One could argue this and yet that it is what i believe.

I'm sure your sister didn't like the fact that so many people had her name (like moi). It's annoying when someone calls "Jessica" and 5 other people turn around.

Due to the fact that ,y name is rather rare and that I've previously revealed some information about myself that clever people can use to stalk me; I prefer to remain incognito. However, if you want to send ,e beautiful and expensive gifts (jewelry, book certificates, money, clothes, etc.), it can be arranged! Seriously though, if you have disclosed information about where you live, what sort of school you go to, how old you are etc., a clever person can figure out who you are. I don't even use my real name for my hotmail address...it's one of my middle names.

I'm Sarah Mary. As in, first name, middle name.
I like my name a lot. I think it's pretty. Sarah is a really common name, but I don't care, because once again, I think it's pretty. I've been told I really look like a Sarah.

If that's really your name, then there are two Amandas here.
