Angry Fuck Christmas!

Alright, so I'm in the most prestigious (non-professional) choir in the state, so I've been singing "fa-la-la" since fucking September. But that's my choice.

Now, since the day after Thanksgiving, any store I go to has been blaring cheesy Christmas music over the intercom, and there's nothing I can do about it!

And then there's those old people, you know the ones. They wear those revolting sweaters with felt snowmen on them, and necklaces strung with christmas lights! What the fuck is wrong with everyone? Does everyone inexplicably fall victim to the same marketing ploy but me?

Bah!

Darling, I know how you feel - thereīs a reason Iīm allergic to Christmas carols. There -is- such a thing as too much Christmas, I know. I was in a choir once, too. "Oh Holy Night" makes me want to find a cliff that I can step off of. :P *puke* You have my full sympathy. I think itīs only just started here yet, and people donīt really do crazy stuff like that. I saw a beggar with a Santa Claus hat the other day, but thatīs about it.

I donīt care for Christmas, either. I celebrate Yule, which I love. I feel lucky that I live in a country that still uses the old word - jul - so that I can just celebrate the holiday under the pretense of doing what everyone does. It really helps to diminish the amount of stupid questions that I have to ask come Yuletide.

Damn straight. Even here, I get assaulted with stupid Xmas music in the stores. I makes me that much more apt to wear my headphones everywhere.

At least to the Japanese, Xmas is just about decor and parties, not rabid materialism.

In stores... elevators... over the speakers at work...

By the time the day actually arrives, I am sick of Christmas. They have ornaments out as early as August these days.

I really don't get it. It takes away anything to look forward to because it is with us half the fucking year, growing into some faux-merry crescendo and then lapsing into economic decline.

My birthday's the day after.
I usually try my hardest not to acknowledge this, to the dismay of my friends and family. But I might this year because someone promised to make me a vegan-friendly chocolate cake.

Try working retail...

Seriously, though, I used to work for Circuit City and every year right before Black Friday they would give us crisis helpline numbers because of how horrible the holidays are for retail workers.

I hate how it has been commercialized too, but I love the actual day when I visit my mother and step dad and sister and her family and we eat some of my mother's damn fine home cooking and pastries coffee and talk, talk, talk.

But the rest is crap that Jesus would have thrown out.

For me celebrating Christmas is listening to the Nutcracker a few times and then doing the dreaded family visit. I don't think anyone wants to or needs to be so bombarded with Christmas as the retail industry seems to think.

For me, christmas is about my kids. Other than their birthdays its the only time of year i can spoil them, and also any excuse to get my craft stuff out and make decorations is good for me!! It takes the excitement away for me when shops put their decorations up in sept though. That takes the piss. And chocolate advent calendars in october.

Anne - why, isnīt that normal? Iīve never cheated when it comes to the calendar, not once in my life - my mother is my witness on that one. Opening the calendar was an almost sacred ritual for me when I was a child.

Necro - um. Hell? Cool, I heard theyīre having a party tonight. Absinthe and hot, interesting people and whatnot. Somehow, I do think Heavenīs going to be a bit empty tonight. Anyway, if youīll excuse me, I have to be off - I seem to be running late for my date with the Devil.

XD

My family never got ahead of ourselves with the advent calender, maybe it was just the plethora of yummy baked goods that my mother made but I never really thought of getting out the treats before their allotted day.

Yule is a Holiday.
Not Christmas.
Allthough, I have a sneaky suspicion(SP?) that I'm getting my first Gibson USA this year!

One thing I can't wait for is Christmas Eve, we visit all our family members and our friends ^_^ Me, my sister, and the two sister's of my mom's best friend agreed to get each other booze for Christmas and we'll drink it all Christmas Eve.

One Christmas tradition I really really miss is mummering *sigh* Its when people would disguise themselves in old clothing, covering up their faces, and you have to guess who they are. They'd bring musical instruments and party for a while before moving on to the next house. They scared the shit out of me when I was really little though XD

Considering my last 3 christmas's was just me huddling in the dark for warmth I'd say I don't very much care for it either...

Those people don't bother me, I find them kind of amusing, but the people who throw a fit when you say "happy holidays" (instead of merry Christmas) really get under my skin. I have an aunt who is one of those people, she has even ranted at a Target cashier about how people shouldn't be so worried about being politically correct and taking baby Jesus out of Christmas so that people wont be offended (the rant went on for a full 5 minutes), to which the poor girl replied "Mam, I'm Jewish, I don't say merry Christmas because I don't celebrate Christmas." The look on my aunt's face was kind of priceless.

You know, you're gonna get old one day, and while walking in wal mart you take a glance, You see in the corner of your eye a Wool sweater.

You think "These are acually a bit stlyish, And I used to think these were for old people! It's much classier than what the young people wear."

You buy it.

Yup, Thats life, you get old.
