Septum piercing

I need a piercing that I can hide sometimes, so I've decided to get a septum. However my piercer says he doesn't want to do it because in his words "it has a high failure rate and it rarely heals straight".
If that's true, and you guys know for sure tell me. Also, would it get in the way of blowing your nose?
Is there anything else I can get pierced that I could hide/be able to get a job with (other than tongue).
Obviously I'm not talking about things like belly button or nipples, but more facial piercings.

I'm quite sure that isn't true.
It shouldn't heal at an angle unless you get jewelry that weighs it down on one side, to state the obvious. Just to be safe it does heal properly with out any other 'miss-haps' I'd suggest that if you can get in the fist month and a half with whatever "default" jewelry the piercer suggests in it that would be good. But it isn't really that important.
It would depend what you had in it as to if it might get in the way.
Nostril studs are okay, you can just wear a small one and people generally don't mind. And they're easy to change.

Just out of interest, what were you planning on putting in the septum?

They are pretty tricky, and he might be telling you in a covert way that he isn't good at them. Find a piercer who is confident s/he can do it.

You could get a nose piercing. You can put in a small stud for jobs and such.

I have one, so I actually know this shit ><

If it's pierced correctly, it should heal 'straight enough' to look straight.
They also don't have a high rejection rate like he said.

I can't imagine why a spetum piercing would have a high rejection rate.

My nose and lip piercings have been pretty good for what you are intending to do.
When I first did mine(did them myself) I left them in for about 6 months straight. I was able to do this because the job I had at the time did not mind- some don't, it all depends on what you do and who you work for.
Then when I got a more professional job I would take them out during work and then put them back in at night.

I've had them for about 6 years now and can(and usually do) leave them out for months at a time and they won't heal over.

I used to have my bridge pierced. I loved that piercing but ultimately had to take it out for good. From a professional job standpoint, I wouldn't recommend getting one of those as they are hard to hide and leave a scar. Oh my it's such an ugly scar!

So I was rambling up there but to sum up from my experience:
Get a nose or a lip piercing. Leave it in all the time for a few months. If everything works well you should be able to take it out during work and put it back in when you come home. It will be painful at first, after a year or so it won't be so bad. If you really like your piercing it will be worth it!

What the hell!?

He probably just can't do it. Find a piercer who can.

You'd look good with a septum piercing..........maybe that's because I love them, lol, i'm biased.

I love them too, I don't think they look silly as long as it's not too big for your face.
Thanks everyone, I have REALLY decided to do it, I just need to save up the money for it (after I buy people presents) and then I'll do it.
No one commented on the nose blowing thing, is that tricky with one?

Oh and I was asked what I wanted to put in, not a retainer but the other thing that has the balls at the bottom (I don't know the same clearly)

And no, it's not hard to blow your nose once it has healed.

How do you plan on hiding it? Are you going to get a small one that sits inside your nose? Because I think it would be still visable. maybe Im wrong.

If you just shove the jewellery up your nose....you can't see it atall.

Especially if it's black.

Oh well, personally I think they look a bit ridiculous, but hey, do what makes ya feel good Alissa. Hope it doesn't get infected.

To blow your nose, flip the CBB forward, so it's out of the way.

I know a lot of piercers, and I've NEVER heard of septums having a "high rejection rate". I agree with whomever said that your guy probably isn't good at doing them. Find a piercer who is confident about doing them.

I've had my septum pierced for 16 years, and I still love it. lol, my husband hates it though. I had it pierced at 14g, but have since stretched it up to a 6g, and then let it close back up to a 10g (which is what I currently wear in it). I've had it long enough that I don't have to wear a retainer it it while I'm at work or want to hide it, I just leave the jewelry out and it's fine and doesn't close up. I always HATED those staple shaped "retainers". I always found them EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Back when I actually wore jewelry to keep it open whilst hiding it (I'd say for the first 2 years or so), I would wear a plug in it instead of a retainer...it was much more comfortable.

I looked at your page to see how you septum looks and it looks great. I don't see why your husband would hate it, but oh well.
I wanted mine to be kinda small, 16 g if possible
do they do that or would they just do it a standard 14?
