T3h Internetz is FAIL for proving or disproving the existence of God permanently.

Shade: When one believes that God is real, and that He loves us, it actually changes a lot of things. One's entire perspective is different.

Don't worry, I'm done now. It's just extremely frustrating when someone keeps insisting they're right even though they refuse to make a case for fear of having it rebutted.

Yes, you're right ...and no.. I wasn't refering to changes in people's perspective.

I meant to pass it toward the arguing thing.

Like...you know, stereotypical.

God have to be powerful
God have to love us
God have to be a dude

So, we (or they) end up believing in theirselves because ,after all, they created 'God', gave him 'power' and motivate the progress of expanding God's power.

EDIT : Sound kinda stupid, isn't it ? I don't feel like figuring things out.

Cthulhu just told me all your gods don't exist .
He then told me how he wanted to torture all mortals and asked me to bring some refreshments for poker night.

No reason not to. No proof? So? No proof why not to either.
That's not a belief in God, that's trying to pokerface your all-powerful space fairy. I'm creating JCC's Wager:

-Most religions get pretty pissy if you deny their validity.
-Most religions get even more pissy if you're worshipping another religion.
-Therefore, since any of the hundreds of religions could be legitimate, I'm going to take the first option of medium-level pissiness and cut out religion completely, rather than focusing on one for no reason other than that I was brought up with it and get a whole bunch of god rage.

My wager rapes your wager to death.

EXACTLY!!

That would probably explain why the later religion's 'God' turned out to be more and more powerful. So that you're safer with them and their Gods than with other religions.

Like... Norse Gods who will all die in the Ragnarok.

Then we have Egypt Gods who are mortals and destructable until they reincarnate.

Then... Christian's God, Mr. High and Mighty, Omnipotent and created everything...you know, kind of God's stereotypes.

Yeah. And while the mortality of God(s) died, the other human traits (such as wrath and jealousy) remained.

Most atheists get pissy when you believe in God(s) as well. Jillian is a prime example of this.

I can only speak for myself, but any dispute I might have with someone over their mere belief in gods would be a purely academic one. Nothing I would get particuarly bent out of shape over. The reason I get hopping mad is that followers of the faiths we have in the West aren't happy with just having invisible friends. They have to go around threatening other people with eternal torment, forwarding barbarism as an ideal ethical code, bullying everyone not like them in the public sphere, tearing down sense and reason with postmodernist apologetics, actively obstructing science whenever it tells them something that clashes with their comforting myths, and so on.

Pretty straightforward, really. I don't have these episodes IRL, except when visiting home. Know why? Because in Japan, religion is not an excuse to be shitty to people. Simple.

Personally, I don't like the smug attitude some believers have.

Why do people believe in God?
Is it just me or do people rely on faith as a cop out, rather than explain why they 'choose' to put faith in a God? I'm not trying to say if you have faith without evidence that you are in the wrong, however faith without a basis construct is silly.
I've met to many Christians who claim they put faith in god based on the evidence around us. I think to myself, what evidence?
For example the old God cured my cancer.
Well perhaps in the next room to them, someone completely atheist also found themselves rid of their cancer. Coincidence? Most likely.
Most people wouldn't let someone operate on them unless it were fact that the doctor knew what he was doing. Because its been proven operations can be successful people are usually willing to put their faith in doctors. So in my opinion proof is very relevant.
I was brought up with a family of Jehovah's witnesses, I know the bible quite well and know there is a lot of sound advice it has to offer.
Though growing up in such a hypocritical religious organization has made me more of a questioner, rather than just another member of the blind sheep. I left that organization because I felt pushed into 'their' interpretation of the bible that did not even necessarily follow Scripture.
I choose to believe in god based on my knowledge of the bible. You may ague that the bible is not conclusive evidence and I would agree with you. But I learn new things from the bible all the time and have come to my own conclusion that the bible tells the truth.
