The New Political Animals
I just thought it would be amusing.
We all know (I suppose) that we all know the Elephant and Donkey symbolizing the Republican and Democrat parties.
Thomas Nast was a genius when he thought of these animals, but I wonder if we can think of other animals that could depict both parties with other animals; imagine that we're deciding the future symbols of the parties. Mention bot animals, not just one.
Now, of course, before it happens, because I know it will, avoid biases as much as possible. I can already taste the number of people that would say "Republicans are rats and Democrats are eagles."
That's just stupid. Thomas Nast made fun of both parties and that's what made it so cool.
I myself can't currently think of what I would replace the donkey and elephant with; that might actually be the reason I created this thread.

As a more modern/slanderous representation of the two parties, I could see Republicans represented by:
A.) Pigs (gluttonous & always in the dirt), or
B.) Snakes (sneaky, cold-blooded reptiles that constantly shed skin and swallow anything)
and Democrats represented by:
A.) Worms (gutless creatures afraid to get wet), or
B.) Howler monkeys (slow, noisy animals that spend too much time screaming at and slapping one another)

How about a squid for the Republicans, and an octopus for the Democrats. The Republicans are faster and more streamlined. They believe in more efficient government. The Democrats are more into larger government and are a bit more Socialist, therefore they are strong, yet slower at swimming than the squid. Both animals have their tentacles into many dealings and goings-on. If a grass-roots candidate who does not tow the party line or if a third party comes along to challenge them, they both will squirt their ink everywhere. They both run their beaks at each other constantly. When they want to decieve the populus, they just use their skin to camoflage and blend in.
That being said, I am registered as non-partisan. I don't care for either party. I like to refer to them as the Republicrats and the Demopublicans.

I love the howler monkey idea!
But the GOP needs some animal that preens and grooms it'self 80 percent of it's life then does something really discusting with it's own feces.
I can't think of it.

Yeah, I was going to say... the Republicans could be a mouse. A white one. And the Democrats could be a white mouse. Uhh... with a small fleck of black near the tip on the back of the right ear.
No, no, that will never do. I know. The Republicans can be a mountain lion, and the Democrats are a cougar.
