I haven't been here that long, but I can tell that some people are exactly what you said they are, but not all the people are, really.
And why let a few people ruin something great for you?
The concept to me is stupid. I don't see the logic. Sort of like how my 11 year old cousin cried all the night because she couldn't sleep in my room. She wasn't going to sleep in my room no matter how much she cried. She was basically just wasting everyone's time, including her own's.

I've been here longer than most members right now except for three. And trust me, things are never like this, and this is not Gnet reaching bottom, nor is it the apex of its history.
Things fluctuate. Things change. And they change because people decide to make it change.

Someone doing the equivalent of dropping out of Gnet is just being weak.
Never coming back to Gnet because you have better things to do in life, I can understand. That's why I didn't mind when Kontan said he was leaving; I guessed there was an important reason in his life.
But simply leaving because you don't like it? Fine, do it (not addressing specifically you, it's just a proverbial 'you') but don't say stupid things like "you all don't deserve me" or "this site has gone to hell" because it's just not true.

At any one point, a great many people seem convinced that Gnet is at its lowest ebb.

I think it's always been that way though, pretty much since I joined. Even the real "Ancients" complained that the site was not what it was.
And they had better reason than there's been since, cause the site changed hands and there was a lot of bad feeling.

Seriously. Duane's right- it *isn't* that bad here. A lot more is required of people who tend to stick around, though, as there are no mods to run to if someone doesn't want to share their barbies. It's self moderated, which means- self control.

Thanks, I'm an "ancient" now I feel old.

The truth is that sometimes these boards seem to turn into a great big pile of suck. When that happens I go away and don't really pay any attention to it but check it every now and again to see if it has gotten better and when it does I turn into a regular member again. Right now there is a some rather sucky bitching but there are still plenty of threads that are drama free so it isn't really hard to look past.
