Ah, reasonable argument.
What say we have a wager? First one who starts complaining. (Whether it be about my person, Duck, or yours)
Can't really exchange items though...hmm...

Alright then, we're on? I say Duck is the first to abuse, and you say...your choices shall remain anonymous.

Temptation will get you on its own Duck. I don't need to give you a push.
And really, what could you want from me?

Duckie won't abuse it. Everyone knows how things like IM's and crap like that annoys him. Though we could abuse Duckie with it. *snicker*

I can't believe it. Gothic.net has something resembling a sysadmin.
Anyway, I don't get what the point of restricting signatures is. If you're actually paying attention, mind if I ask why?

I agree - I don't post much but I do spend anything between 4 - 6 hours on this board every day. I'm not a regular because...?

Even if you spend 4 to 6 hours a day on Gothic.net, you currently have 93 posts. Although that is a respectable number of posts, it's not really reflective of the long time support and participation some of the others have put in. We wanted to shift some of the features here and we feel that a signature spot is something we're more comfortable having long term contributing members be able to have.
We would rather the focus be a little bit more on good conversations and a little less on extensive redundant sig spots. We are sorry if this causes you stress or trauma, that certainly was not our intent.

Some people, much like yourself, seem to have more text in your signatures than you do in your messages. We just didn't see the point of having all that mess filling every conversation with repetitive text, spam, and jokes that might have been funny once, but certainly not thirty times in one thread.

I can agree on some point. However, you'll note that my entire signature takes up roughly 180 characters (excluding spaces). The average, from what I can see, barely goes over 250. I don't think that honestly distracts from the conversation.
This reminds me of the whole, "Adblock with Firefox" issue, where users were blocked from the site for using Firefox. I'd say it's a fair assumption that a good portion of users don't even really register the fact that the signature is there.
It's your forum, it's your rules. I'm just really curious as to why you'd make such of a move.
Also, if you have time to answer a few questions;
1. What defines a regular?
2. Does the forum come with a script to do this, or did you have to code it yourself?
3. What do you mean by we? Don't tell me you have more then two sysadmins.

I like it. Membership has it's privileges. Gives n00bs something to strive for.
Also, when on my mobile paying for bandwidth I don't have to be forced to download page after page of signatures to view 10 new posts.
