General 80's Indie & Post-Punk thread (post songs)

Sorry if this has been done... I couldn't find a thread like this *shrug*

Basically, I am looking for any and all recommendations for all kinds of obscure, forgotten, or just plain GOOD (even if well-known) 80's/early 90's Indie, Indie-Pop, Alt, and Post-Punk... Stuff that has a bit of Goth influence is certainly welcome too, of course (and some of my reference links do)

Being a huge fan of this stuff, I really can't get enough... So post 'em up, and maybe give some information if you have any. If I haven't heard it, I'm willing to give it a listen. The more "chilly", introspective and emotional/moving (or just plain catchy), the better.

Spare me. I'm well aware of the connotations of the term. I'm well aware that Indie is not "a genre".

I'm pretty sure anyone can grasp what I'm referring to since the term is used to describe a fairly broad but defined sound and musical approach...

Same could be said of "Post-Punk"... It's incredibly diverse in terms of sound, but just about everyone can set some musical parameters based on the term...

Eh, I'd say indie was a genre that turned into an umbrella term, just like goth.

I'm familiar with many of these names, but there are several names I've seen and not heard, and several I've never even heard of.

I appreciate the recs, folks... I'll check them out after I get through my several-hours-long Smiths-listening, weeping-on-the-floor-in-a-pile-of-dirty-jackets suicide contemplation-fest...

Thanks again... I've had some time to check out a few of the familiar-but-unheard names.

My local record store has a ton of old 80's UK import records from someone's storage... so plenty of these groups mentioned pop up in there... Been finding a lot of new music through compilation records, singles, and all the cheap $1 cassettes since they got them in... It's great, but it's been hell on my wallet...

im sure its been posted but the blog Systems of Romance has an endless pit of excellent music spanning punk rock, new wave, minimal, post punk etc both from the 80's and modern bands producing those same sounds.
