That, good sir, just made my day. (Along with a new entry in my list of the greatest quotes ever.)

Pancakes, one time my little brother (who is 18 and a musical genius) made this band called the Pancake Heroes. Their first album was "Kill You In The Face". Every time I see your name, you know, all 11 times you've said things, I think of that album. They let me design the jacket (I'm a pro with photoshop) and I ended up putting a fork into his face and having him bleed syrup. Awesomest cover ever.

Wait, am I hijacking this thread? More importantly, does anyone care? *looks around* Guess not. Yay for hijacking!

Since goth came to being, of course. Goth is definitely not about clothing, and if someone says that about goth being a state of mind, he's only fantasizing and monopolizing the ideals he wants and for some reason he groups them together under an arbitrary name which cannot be explained with a better reason than because he thinks that word is cool, and he wants to be cool.
In truth, if it's not music that defines Goth, one would be either arbitrary or ignorant.

Since both the emo and gothic subcultures are based on rock music, how did the two diverge? I keep hearing emo is a subculture of the goths since it's older. Also, both of them have tendencies for the darker side of life. I know people here will probably start ranting about emos and their emphasis on emotions, but that is only being human. In fact, there are several people here that display "emo characteristics". One need to only look at the rant thread. So I don't see what's the big deal about emo. In fact, some of their music bands are good, like Blue October. Can someone enlighten me?

Actually, emo's potential isn't dark. It was actually to emotionally charge punk rock music and focus on angst and bitterness. Though a good theme it was eventually commericalized. It was bands in the mainstream that I won't specify that made it look dark. Goth is a subculture, emo is a slang term that emerged from emotive hardcore-though it has no boundries of a real subculture for their is no real lifestyle archives nor asethic. Not that a subculture requires that, but emo is only a slang term that's now apparently a subculture. I agree on some of your assement but what you are speaking of is what emo has become, not what it is.

By the way,
I haven't been saying anything else on this,
because I could care less
What you think of me
I don't give shit.

I posted an introduction because someone else pointed out that I should
Otherwise this wouldn't be here.

Call me crap I don't care.

Because you have to know
and understand someone
to get who they really are.

Which no one here will ever get that coverage

So if you don't like me or anything I post
Don't reply unless giving me critizism that will help my writing
Just pass it.

You spelled "criticism" wrong.
Why do you press enter after every few words?

If you don't care what we think, why are you defending yourself?

Go away, idiot.

I hate to say it, but why do all mallgoths have to be pushed away here? Gothic.net is welcomed to anyone with an open mind. Besides, we could always teach them the goth ways, or at least educate them through our posts. I was always, to be honest, a true goth, but I had to learn the difference between what a real goth is and a poseur.

Well it's hard to define that at times, I'd have to say someone who generally appreciates things that are shunned (like the dark and grotesque) that hasn't been switching from fad to fad or from phase to phase, and that appreciates as well, art-many kinds of art. Fashion can also dictate that-meaning, DIY work or Victorian styles, not mass manufactored stuff from Hot Topic. And, someone that doesn't follow the general stereotype of goth. Of course, these are only details, so I can't classify that entirely.

EVILL !!! Anyway, it doesn't have to be you. This is a good way to get a true understanding of what goth is. You can be mean all you want, but some would like to help the newbies.

Vyv... I really think you need to take the whole goth thing a little less seriously. You don't even seem to identify as a person... Just a goth.

Lolza.
No, I'm very well a person. Just very passionate in the things I do. You also said I'M ABLE to express myself here. So there. Darn, we used to be friends...

We're still friends, I think you just need to chill out a little. If you're totally and completely serious about how gawthity gawth you are all the time, you're going to get offended when people make jokes about goths, even if they're funny. And I get irritated when people don't laugh at funny jokes, especially when it's because they're taking themselves too seriously.

I know what you're saying....I can laugh at myself being as goth as I am, I even joke to myself saying, "I am so goth that I shit in the dark...and when I do it's Bats, baby! YOU CAN'T GOTHER THAN THAT!"
Happy?
