Thanks ape, they do it differently in New York the school picked out your classes based on your score. Over all it was a good first day (well except for the morning when I stood in front of the building like an idiot saying 'oh my god, oh my freakin god, there's no place like home, there's no place like home').

Finding this:
"She's like this cleavagy slut-bomb walking around ..."
First, because it's from a website called uppity-negro.com ... who knew there was such a thing?
And second, because the site was quoting a bit of dialog from some Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan-fiction, and that line amused the hell out of me. Here's the whole excerpt from that link:
Willow: Well, technically, Faith isn't a monster. And as far as fighting, I'd be lucky to bruise her fist with my face.
Tara: Oh.
Willow: What?
Tara: Face-punching, I'm not so good with the whole. . . (Imitates throwing punches rather badly)
Willow: Swimming?
Tara: Violence.
Willow: Don't worry, we're sure to spot Faith first. She's like this cleavagy slut-bomb walking around "Ooh, check me out, I'm wicked-cool, I'm five-by-five."
Tara: Five-by-five? Five what by five what?
Willow: See, that's the thing. No-one knows. *chuckle*
**edit** Correction (and a somewhat surprised one for me) - that's actual dialog from the season four episode "This Year's Girl".
This suggests to me that I might need to watch the series from beginning to end sometime soon. I seem to have missed a thing or two.

I thought you might want some clarification as what you said didn't sound quite right and you seem interested. And yeah, I did watch it. Good but I think when they were talking about "hearing", they phrased things in a way which could be confusing.

Kind of the other way around: gravitational radiation is a wave which carries energy.
When a physicist says "radiation" it pretty much always refers to electromagnetic radiation, which is why it has (almost) the same meaning as "light". So when you said "light does not escape a black hole, they do emit radiation", it looked like you contradicted yourself to me but I guess it was just a differing use of words.
In case anyone else is interested:
A black hole does not emit electromagnetic (EM) radiation which travels past its event horizon; however, matter heated from spiraling into a black hole before the event horizon is crossed will emit EM radiation which can be detected. The spiraling matter is known as an accretion disc.
Another way to detect black holes is to look for gravitational radiation/waves. These waves are produced by a pair of black holes orbiting each other, not by a single black hole, but they should be detectable through large clouds of dust.
Visible light is a form of EM radiation as are radio, microwave, UV, X-ray and others. EM radiation is quantised into photons. Gravitational radiation does not involve photons. It's believed to have its own particle, the "graviton". Gravitational waves are described in terms of their effect on spacetime too.
There are some other ways to detect black holes like gravitational lensing, measuring the orbital velocity of stars (Ben mentioned this), and looking for accretion disc jets. These all involve measuring EM radiation.

I've finally found an NA meeting that I like. I'm giving it another shot.
Also good news: I haven't used for four days now, since my relapse two weeks ago. I'm going through withdrawal, which sucks ass, but I'm finally feeling better.
And I scored an adorable boyfriend. Hooray me.

The twitter topic #lastlineofbadromancenovels.
Examples:
...and she realized that he really had might as well have used his pinky.
And she knew at that moment that while he hated her race, she was one Jew Hitler would love forever.
She rolled over, looked him in the eye, and gently removed the jumper cables from his genitals.
Needless to say, it was the greatest funeral anyone in the family had ever attended.
She smiled- and who could blame her? She had it all...except for a vagina.

Saya - I read this and thought of our conversation about thoseromance books:
"She couldn't catch her breath. She wanted him so badly it was out of control. Her center throbbed with hot moisture and longed to be filled.... with him"
Maggie Shayne - forsaken.
Well that made my day. I am still giggling about it.

Ha! I have to remember this when November comes, if I can do that NaNoWriMo thing this year. I think my romance novel will be about androids.

The tasting I had with my caterer.
Mmmmm free food
Too bad I had a long drive ahead of me so I couldn't really enjoy the open bar.

oh yeah! the book is full of classic lines like that. I hate buying a book, then feeling obliged to read it (because I spent a whole $10 on it).
"His lips burned a path of liquid heat down her chin, over her throat, along her chest (and down the road)."
while out on my walk today, I was thinking how much fun it would be to take a couple of paragraphs and change it around, using the meanings of the words in a different way.
"His manhood swelled with anticipation of holding her close. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He wanted to hold her more than anything else in the entire world"
Manhood would be the state or time of being a man or adult male person; male maturity.
Something like that but it would be about a guy seeing his baby daughter for the first time.
Ah dear the ways I entertain myself. Yeah that made my day. I feel sick.

I've landed a slot doing stand-up comedy.
This is either gonna be awesome, or lead to failure of the crash & burn magnitude. MUST NOT GET DRUNK ON THE NIGHT.
