Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Strangest combination?
Alright, I've got a challenge for you. Me and a friend of mine have a small challenge going on. The question is who can write the coolest song for the oddest combination of musical instruments (or anything that makes sounds, anyway). There shouldn't be more than five musicians involved in performing it, and the instruments should not be impossible to get, in case we actually choose to record any of the resulting music. Since he asked some people for ideas, so can I, so I'm throwing the question out to you creative people out there: what's the strangest combination of musical instruments that you could ever think of in one and the same song?

How about a quintet of dog whistles? That would be neat. Put some dogs nearby and you got vocals too.

Meth, that is a fucking awesome suggestion - I will have to try that one sometime. Personally, I must admit, I have a deep hate- hate relationship with dog whistles because of my good hearing; they make my head ache. But it's a neat idea, and would be fun to try and do a recording of that... *laughs*

Oh, oh, here we go.
Cello played as a bass guitar
Acourdian
Washboard played with a broken glass bottle
Cracklebox
Theremin
Various tape-recorded sounds
Drumset made from old milk cans, thunder sheilds, splash symbols, tom tom drums, bongos, a car door, and that metal ashtray that the tobacco company sent me in the mail.
