Pronouncing "Bauhaus"
Well, I feel really stupid now.
I've been listening to some Bauhaus (pretty kickass, yes.), but I've looked, even in Youtube interviews and stuff, and I can't figure out how to pronounce it.
Is it bow-house, or bah-hoss, or what?
Sorry guys. =/

Correct.
A note of clarification though: "bow" as in "the bow of a ship," not as in "violin bow."

In Germany they have Home Depot-like stores called "Bauhaus", which translates loosely to "building house".
I always laughed when I saw them!

You know that it was the name of a German school of design in the 1920's, right?

Hi! I think I'd have to agree with "bow-hous". That's what we're told in architecture at least, so it's probably the same.

I did, but had forgotten it until you reminded me. Still, the name amused me and my husband when we saw it. I loved going in there, they had an amazing craft section that I loved!

Take a bow in da house. While we're at it, "Siouxsie Sioux" is pronounced "Susie Sue".

Tee-hee. I showed my bio teacher what I had on my i-pod, and he thought it was "sushi sue". I love mispronunciations!
