In that case, I know a certain member of this board who may be the woman of my dreams.
Anyway, I hope the majority of your favorite music is VASTLY different from the music you said was your favorite band. You into Bauhaus?

Otep, avenged sevenfold, metallica, dimmi borgir, acacia strain.
But I am taking music recommendations, I'm fairly new to the metal genre.

I just had a seizure.
Goths have nothing to do with metal. Goths listen to gothic rock, which is a branch of post-punk heavily influenced by glam rock. It tends to be characterized by high emphasis on bass guitar and 'tribal' drumming. Check out Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, Alien Sex Fiend, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, London After Midnight, the Mission UK, and Christian Death.
Do it. Listen to it. Learn to love it.
And remember: Metal isn't bad, but the bands you listed suck. Don't get all defensive, since, as you said, you're new to it, anyway.

If you are interested in metal, though, look into bands such as:
Anorexia Nervosa, Amon Amarth, Eluveitie, Finntroll, Moonsorrow, Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Borknagar, Opeth, Therion, Thyrfing, Wintersun, etc. Folk metal made up the majority of that list, so I hope you like it.

Why are so many new members NOT at all into gothic rock? Just a pattern I've noticed. It makes me wonder why they joined a gothic rock forum.
I'm not trying to throw stones, I've just wondered this. And I'm also not saying "Oh, you need to listen to Sisters Of Mercy to be goth", because that's shallow. It's just like, why join a goth forum???

Woah, DRM. NIN and Rammstein are NOT industrial, just influenced by it. I always throw up a little when someone says they like industrial and then they name those bands.
