A bit of good news close to home

I thought I would counter all this bad news we've been getting with a bit of good news, that is so close to home, it's actually in my neighborhood.

http://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-201...,6722534.story

Quote:
WITI-TV, WAUKESHA—
Waukesha Police responded to a pit bull attack on the 2100 block of Springbrook North around 6:36 p.m. The pit bull attacked a 52-year-old woman it lived with. She was attempting to kennel one of the two family dogs when the other dog attacked her. Pollice killed the dog before it could go after police and bystanders.

The female suffered injuries to both legs and an arm from the dog. A 39-year-old male neighbor that tried to assist her was also bitten by the same dog.

The dog also tried to attack police officers while the victims were being treated by Waukesha Fire Department. A police officer shot the dog to keep it from going after other officers and neighbors.

The female victim was transported by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital and the neighbor was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Both victims are in stable condition.

Both dogs were removed from the home by the Waukesha Humane Animal Welfare Society.
It was actually quite a surprise to see the flight for life helicopter flying so low over my house on it's way to the scene. It's even more surprising when you consider that it looked like it wasn't high enough in the air to get past the power lines that bisect the neighborhood in half, but obviously they fortunately noticed the power lines and probably had to go up and over it to get to wherever they were cleared to land. This could have gone a lot worse than it did. I hate to think what might of happened if someone in my family had been bike riding over that way.

So the fact the rescue helicopter didn't crash into power lines in a residential area is the good news then?

Oh bother. Perhaps I was looking too hard at a glass half full.

Not only did this make me sad, but so did the links on the side of the page that showed me more terrible dog related news.
