First of all, some of them also play on the official ( yes, STILL play )
Yes, some no longer play because of the rates/prices balance ( or may i say ... unbalance ? )
And just because rates are multiplied a few times ( talking about 2-9x rates in this case ) doesn't mean you dont work for your stuff ... you just dont work as hard (but it still takes time to find materials for a decent item ... days, maybe weeks ) and you cand reduce the annoying number of monsters you have to kill to get even only to level 20.
And some of them won't ever play on the official.There are some reasons for this :
1.Rates
2.They cant afford it
3.Some other reason ( some private servers have some unique features ... although they usually stink )
And if I am not wrong, Lineage 2 has the biggest number of players ( on official servers )
