Aid work in Zambia... need help.

Okay I'm going to Zambia in summer to help with orphaned children and the AID's center... also farming and some other things like building schools and houses.
I've been to Africa before, but never for aid work, this may make me seem like some vain fickle child, which I am... But anyways, I need fashion advice on what to wear, I love my platform boots, corsets and my miniskirts... sadly they are inapropriate for the activities I shall be partaking in there, so any advice on what to wear thats suitable and gothic, so that it dosen't make me seem like a chav? (I'm a girl tehe)

Outdoors: Sturdy jeans/clamdiggers, a few dozen t-shirts in muted colors, reliable boots (such as Docs, Gripfast, or combat), durable gloves, socks, flip-flops, sunscreen, lotion, first aid materials and medicine. Some regardless of weather but some should be brought just in case.

Indoors: In case of conservative environment, a few button up shirts, crisp trousers or skirts, a formal jacket, short sleeved tops. A pair of Mary Janes/ballet flats might not hurt either.

But if it's a casual environment, just avoid anything obscene or uncomfortable for you...

Pack Tabbard. It will keep the bugs off. Or try Citronella oil. Its natural and it works well. And take it from someone that lives in Africa, pack a hat and sunscreen!

For a girl I'd advise that you take a few skirts or sarongs. I was in Zambia about five years back to do charity-stuff and in many areas (especially the rural communities) it is considered inappropriate for a girl to wear pants or have bare shoulders (so try to avoid strappy tops) It's just a culture-respect thing.. You can always wear jeans with a sarong over it or something - although it gets really hot so loose, light fabrics are what you should be looking into.

And as PersephoneX says - Tabbard Tabbard Tabbard. You cannot have too much Tabbard. And you definitely want to invest in a sun hat and some factor 40 too.
