I don't understand why you've included some of the genres in your poll which have no real relationship to some of the others...

I picked the '* Metal' genre's as well as the well as mixed genres. I also put them in no real order. (Although IMO each gets further and further from 'Metal'.)

Dark Ambient is just my fav.

This is a gothic forum so where are the options for music that relates more to the forum - goth rock, death rock, post punk, darkwave, so on and so forth...

Funeral doom, i.e. Skepticism, Thergothon, Funeral, Shape of Despair, etc.
In other words, extremely slow (even by doom metal's standards) and extremely depressive. Though the ungodly monotony and snail's-pace of the music does more to depress me than the melodies ever could.

I chose Dark Ambient. I love music with a dark atmosphere, that's not necessarily overly heavy on the guitars.

When I think "funeral doom" I think of My Dying Bride...correct me if I am wrong but your description fits their music.

Sort of. Their music is often classified as "death doom". It certainly is monotonous though.

Wrong.

From the list, I love each one, but I like Sludge Metal a lot as well.

Why do we have to only have discussions about Goth music?

Because pretentious Goth rock assholes see the word gothic in the URL and think that all we do is talk about a bunch of bands from a dying subculture in the 80s in spite of the fact it says, several times at that, that this is a literary forum.

We shouldn't. This is a music forum so we should be able to talk about anything that is related to music.

All of that music is terrible.

But I've heard so many names for different kinds of metal from my brother. Can someone please inform me as to what the fuck "Mummy Grind" is? Or "Swamp Metal"?

Because no other good music exists, and if you disagree, you're a bad goth and an even worse person.

Swamp Metal isn't really a genre because nobody's been able to properly define it, but it's bands like Down, Crowbar, Kalmah.

Mummy Grind ....I have no idea.

Dark ambient, although it is not the only thing I listen to, I listen to various genres of Metal like most people, as well as some forms of classical and orchestral. I have a very strange taste of music actually.

I'm not a goth rock arsehole, just an arsehole in general. Again below..

(For anyone who actually thought I was serious in the above replies... I wasn't :P )

What I meant in my first comment was maybe the OP could have added an option for us goth rock arseholes. After all you wouldn't talk about hardcore punk & grindcore on a classical music forum...or would you ? hmmm
