bi-sexual trend

When did bi-sexuality become a trend? This one annoys me so damn much. I'm sorry but girls who call themselves bisexual for the sake of impressing horny teenage boys are pathetic and give others a bad name.
When did sexual liking members of the same sex become trendy?

It is pathetic. It runs along the same lines as homosexual males pretending to be heterosexual so as not to get flak from their close-minded friends. People need to learn to be who they are, not who others want them to be.

It's interesting that the same-sex "trend" is more or less exclusive to women, at least as far as I've observed.

Oh defenetly it is. Only because for a woman it's "hot" and "attractive" to like other women. I'm serious, every time a man asks me if I like girls, I answer and get the same response. Usually it's a silence then "dude that's kinda hot"
The thing is though, guys don't want to see two lesbians, they want to see two straight girls.

Good goth...I am not quite sure. I guess it's become iconic as well. I mean, I am bisexual, but there's only a few people who will make out constantly with the opposite sex and still claim to be bisexual because they think the women on the Hanes ads are hot. It's become for some reason popular with scene kids as well. Perhaps it's taking advantage of the freedom of bisexuality. Perhaps it's attention whoring. I still am not sure, but so many people now for instance celebirties, have claimed to be bisexual. If anyone on MTV is bisexual, apparently now the population under their worship are.

Well, I think since bisexuality is more accepted now, people figure "why not?" Like I am sure everyone has a bit of curiousity, and I guess a lot of people have decided to explore that; but wanting to see what it's like to make out with someone of the same sex and actually being able to fall in love with one is a completeley different concept. I think people are just taking advantage of the opportunity.

Exactly. The thing that bugs me is that girls who are only bi curious claim the bi sexual status as though it is some sort of club, then people like me who actually chose it as a sexual orientation look like fakers.

Yeah, it pisses me off too. I mean, I have a lot of ACTUAL bisexual friends that aren't taken seriously because of this.

I had a guy tell me "I bet you don't really like girls" and that just pissed me off.

I seriously remember asking this exact same question seven or eight years ago, so it's not your imagination but it's also nothing new.

I get the idea that the general population thinks true bisexuality is either quite rare or nonexistent in the medical world. Therefore, they tend to be skeptical of people claiming to be bisexual. Most of my friends view bisexuality as a short-term personal decision, a sexual orientation that can be "activated" at any time; this definition distances it from a "true" sexual orientation, which we're supposedly born with.

I personally believe in bisexuality as a very real sexual orientation; I mean, why not?

blood blossoms, exactly. It's all in the chemicals either way, so why can't it be that some people react with both genders?

What do you mean? You have to be bisexual to notice it?

They probably have that view because of all the people for whom it IS that way (just a trend).

No but I didn't care before.
Either way, honestly I have not noticed it even a mere 3 years ago.

I think she means she noticed it more when she became more involved with it.

Some people will call themselves bi for a bit to experiment. But to me that's no problem. It does bother me though when emo, goth, and just people in general do it to impress someone or fit in. I mean I am bi, but I am full on bi. I am not just saying it to impress someone. I really do find a liking for vaginas and penises.

Definitely nothing new. Although it's much more accepted now than when I was in high school, I haven't noticed it being so much of a "club/trend" type thing anymore. (It really felt as though it was when I was a junior in high school though. Suddenly ALL the girls were bi-sexual....)

But not anymore, and that could be because I have long since graduated. I still come across a few women here and there that still claim to be bi-sexual because it lures guys in, but have never more than kissed a girl. At first it made me a bit mad because it made me and other true bi-sexuals look like fakers as well.

But, you grow up and get over it and realise there are much more important things in the worl to worry about like making this month's rent than if everyone think's you're a real or fakey bi-sexual.

Life goes on!

I am happy it is widely accepted to be bisexual. There seem to me to be many more attractive women around then men.

I do find it rather pathetic when two straight girls start making out just to get all the male attention. I am thinking of two specific women I know, I would never make judgements about strangers.

Let's see... it was popular over 2,000 years, so I'd say sometime before then.

You are sooooo correct on that. I have friends that are bi and I have heard that making out is one thing they do enjoy for fun.
However, if any of them fell in love, it's one hell of an open-relationship there.
I know love triangles can be dangerous but I guess it's a matter of discretion and acceptance among themselves.

I understand your frustration - but I've really just have decided that if they want to experiment, then so be it. There are some people who don't know for sure and they're curious - if they want to take the claim of being bi-sexual, that's fine with me.

The only time I get upset is when these bi-sexual girls are hurting people with their 'experimenting.' I'm very open about my sexuality, I've known that I was a lesbian since I was about 7. So I've got no problem with telling people about my sexual preferences or talking to them about it. I've had many girls who have some questions about my relationships and how I 'knew' I wasn't straight. What I won't tolerate is the girls who hit on me and flirt with me, wanting me to pursue them so they can decide if they're really into that or not. It's just really selfish and hurtful in my opinion.

Of course because then comes the envitable "can I join in?" They want to live out nearly every straight man's fantasy brought to them in living color courtesy of porn videos. I know women who have ended up with one of those guys and have continued to live a lie just to keep that guy. He has to be there to watch and/or participate. Sad.

Luckily, we're not all like that. I've watched lesbian porn and, quite frankly, I find it boring. Hell, I've been in the same room watching two girls going at it and remained entirely unaroused.

Watching a girl manipulate herself, on the other hand...
