. . .

I just rewatched a classic sci-fi/fantasy movie from my youth, that i realized is one of my favorite movies ever. It has some beautiful sets, decent effects (for the time), and lovable characters/ villains. I am speaking the praises of KRULL of course! Please tell me that i'm not the only freak in this roomful of freaks that actually enjoys this treasure of the early eighties. C'mon, somebody's at least seen it right? Any feedback about this movie would be greatly appreciated (even if you hated it, although that seems a longshot . . .=))

Beowulf, check out this film sometime. It has Robin Williams and a few of the Pythons in it:

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

-16 Years of Alcohol (if you liked Clockwork Orange this is a little bit like it)

Cannibalnus-it was made by Terry Gilliam, so I'd expect nothing LESS than Python cameos.

And while I think more people should see "16 Years of Alcoholism" (great direction, great acting), I still think "Trainspotting" is the greatest (and most honest) film about addiction of any kind.

Was going to talk about some of the films I've been seeing lately ("Bareback Mountain" twice more since my little review, "The Three Burials Of Melquiadas Estrada", "Bubble", "Syrian Bride", "For Your Height Only", "Tony Takatani"), but will do so when I have more time....and am more awake.

"Mildred Pierce" [1949, Warner Bros.]. Loved the movie, hate Joan Crawford. On screen AND in real life, this was one scary woman. Check out the book or the 1981 film "Mommie Dearest" & you'll see what I mean. Who on this forum likes Film-Noir movies?

I do not watch a lot of TV for i believe it's a waste of time. (actually, it depends on the show) Therefore, I'm not familiar with much Film-Noir "flicks" to have a favourite. What's yours,Pathogen?

For a good listing of film noir, check out the books "Dark City-The Lost World Of Film Noir" and "Dark City Dames", both by Eddie Muller (also the author of the awesome "Grindhouse"). Muller straddles the line between film-geek and intellectual without talking down to the readers. both are informative and fun.

So I'm having another personal Herzog Fest, and I suggest everybody else do the same. Why, because reading this-

By WENN|Friday, February 03, 2006

HOLLYWOOD - German director Werner Herzog was shot by a crazed fan during a recent interview with the BBC. The 63-year-old was chatting with movie journalist Mark Kermode about his documentary Grizzly Man, when a sniper opened fire with an air rifle.

Kermode explains, “I thought a firecracker had gone off.

“Herzog, as if it was the most normal thing in the world, said, ‘Oh, someone is shooting at us. We must go.’

“He had a bruise the size of a snooker ball, with a hole in. He just carried on with the interview while bleeding quietly in his boxer shorts.”

An unrepentant Herzog insisted, “It was not a significant bullet. I am not afraid.”

after reading this-

HOLLYWOOD - Oscar-nominee Joaquin Phoenix was rescued from his car wreck last week by German cult director Werner Herzog.

The 31-year-old Walk the Line star overturned his car on a canyon road above Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood after his brakes failed and he collided with another vehicle.

Phoenix was saved because he was wearing his seat-belt, but has revealed he was helped from the wreckage by the 63-year-old, who has a home nearby.

The actor says, "I remember this knocking on the passenger window. There was this German voice saying, 'Just relax.' There's the airbag, I can't see and I'm saying, 'I'm fine. I am relaxed. Finally, I rolled down the window and this head pops inside. And he said, 'No, you're not.'

"And suddenly I said to myself, 'That's Werner Herzog!' There's something so calming and beautiful about Werner Herzog's voice. I felt completely fine and safe. I climbed out. I got out of the car and I said, 'Thank you,' and he was gone."

I have decided that Werner Herzog is officially the greatest living human being in the world......Werner Herzog-balls of steel!!!!

I just saw Dangerous Liaisons and realized that Cruel Intentions was extremely similiar in plot...when I Googled it, I realized that they were both (and a few other movies) based on Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a book written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.

I never knew that a teeny-bop movie was based on an 18th century French Rococo novel. I am now going to buy the book, because the reviews on Amazon said that the book is best.

Dangerous Liaisons was a wonderful period movie - I love them, but they can get boring. I definitely reccomend it - especially to you fashion freaks out there, the 18th century costumes, jewelry, and hairstyles are amazing.

PS - Keaunu Reeves was a bad actor in this movie.

Yep. Like 10 Things I Hate About You, another teeny-bop update. (I actually love that movie! *bows head in shame*)

You wanna see bad acting in an update, Blushing? Have you happened across his turn as Don Bad Guy in Much Ado About Nothing? *shudder*

I fancy me some Dangerous Liaisons, though - may check it out...

Don't get me wrong - he's attractive.

It's just when he acts, there always seems to be this great empty void of nothing going on inside those eyes.

As Sloth would say...

"Echo!"

Yeah, my husband and I always expect him to say something like, "It's the Matrix, dude!" *air guitar* then Morpheus slaps the back of his head.

The one film I've seen him in and thought his acting was really good, is My Own Private Idaho. Fanfuckin'tastic in every way, and he was made for that part. He just does it so well. (And River Phoenix is looking his radiant best... *eyes glaze over*)
