The series is called The Elder Scrolls. It's an RPG. Morrowind is one of the games of Elder Scrolls III.

I'd recommend Oblivion if your computer can run it. It irons out many of the irritating features of Morrowind-- the long trips, the excessive number of skills, the lack of visual confirmation of strikes and misses. The only problem is that Vvardenfell itself is much, much more interesting than the setting of Oblivion, other than a few isolated areas.
