Bella, this is where you tell Gothicus to "fuck off". This is good practice. He hears it all the time, you won't hurt his feelings.

Actually, I have no feelings, Molly. I'm an asshole, deriving twisted amusement from the disparagement of intelligent people whose contributions to this discussion board have consistently been relevant, provocative, and in no way inflammatory or worthy of ridicule.

Does nobody hear the tone of voice in which I say this? Anybody?

*Crickets*

Guess not. >_>

Anyway, I wasn't being serious in the slightest. I'm aware it solves nothing. I was hoping the over-the-top way in which I said it would convey that. I actually fight with people quite often, normally over stupid stuff like who's turn it was to change the saw blade, or sweep up the shop. It always boils down to "Freak!" "Jackass!" battles too.

Those are fun.

Seems a lot of it was aimed at underage girls. That's comforting.

Yeah I stutter quite a bit myself somtimes since I'm always stuck looking for the best wording of somthing.

Especialy in my efforts to avoid offending somone. I remember near the beginning of the year in English class we had a veteran from the Vietnam war here and we weren't supposed to ask if he had killed anybody. So I tried to think of the right way to word the question in my head, trying to avoid even sounding like I was leading to that forbidden question. So when it finaly came out I ended up saying "did you ever" and paused trying to figure out what to say after that because I knew it sounded like I was about to ask the forbidden question and after that point just quit trying out of embarassment.

Frankly I think everyone has some sort of dirty things going on in their head. For example while watching Underworld at my Uncle's house awhile back I had plenty of things going through my head that I dare not bring up around my younger cousins.

Oh shut up you. HP is harmless and quite happily married. Try having more than 18 posts before you try talking down other members, especially ones loved as much as HP.

(Agrees with Wormboy)

HP, it does my heart good to know I'm not the only closet pervert in the world.

Renatus, I know what you mean. Silly, nonsensical arguments, those I can do, but the real deal, actual confrontation, those are harder. I don't know how to say what I want to say.

Well, Stormtrooper. When a newbie (sorry for such a term, but it describes this best) tries to insult one of the older and just more awesome members, the rest of the pack stands up and eats the newbie...it's the way of nature. Or was this not what you were talking about? If it wasn't, I feel sheepish now.

Because some people are dicks. And not everyone else is gay.

Actually people are getting back to having more sensitive things to say to everyone. It is nice having places to respond and be taken seriously. The newbees will catch on. I had difficulty with it at first also and still do sometimes. The moderators will move the thread.

then what about being ignored by the older and just more awesome members because you're not awesome enough? That's what I got subjected to sometimes.

The above is simply a question, I've been noticing that a lot of places with used-to-be intelligent users/posters have become overrun my illiterate boons, for lack of a better word. I'm not meaning to be rude, I'm simply too lazy to look at all the posts.

From what I've seen, the mods have gotten most of th illiterates and spammers out, but that "love/hate relationship" I'm sure you've come to know and love remains intact.

I've actually looked at a few threads; our literacy rate has dropped. It's as though some of these people were educated in Florida's public schooling system. It's madness, people are adding numbers to sentences and I've seen quite a few punctuation errors! I can ignore spam, but my Grammar Nazi side is ready to come out and attack these children.(All of whom are probably older than me or in my age group.)

So... your laziness is a step above their illiteracy how?

Which is worse- formerly "literate" members chilling out and being goofy on occasion or the grammar Nazis who have nothing else to stand for?
