My parents are awesome. But I need to scam them some 150 bucks or so.

My parent is alright, but like other adults, he has annoying and pointless rules he insist I follow.

What I can't stand is when they demand respect but show none to us.

My daughter just turned Goth last week. She didn't like the cake, so I told her to go reform herself.

Albert, stop trolling the newbies and wash those dishes like I told you too! And did you clean your room like I asked you to?

Mystery: I know what you mean, and they get so annoyed when you tell them things they say to you like "respect is a two way street". My father is rather layed back about the whole respect thing, as long as my grades are good I can be a smart a** as much as I desire.

Things aren't quite so serious when you aren't under your parents' wing.

My mom has passed away, and my Dad doesn't care about my fashion choices as long as I'm happy. =)

then my parents always say "treat others as you'd like to be treated"
so then i treat them like they do me and they get all pissy!
there's just no pleasing them! haha

Mystery: How old are you? You seem rather young.

I could be wrong of course.

i am fairly young. Complaining about my parents probably didn't help me gain any respect though.

I'm sorry, I feel I have to call rule 34 on the Italian Phrasebook.
It's not one I've encountered before.

aaaand to remain on topic, I get on with mine okay now I've put a sea between us.

My parents are pretty good. One of them actively disapproves of the way I dress, and the other one passively disapproves. But that's really the only sticking point, other than some of my art. But they just want me to be happy and to see me do well. I suppose we just disagree as to whether or not I can do that while dressing in black.

My parents are awesome and think I'm awesome, too. We're one of those creepy families that actually gets along most of the time.

My parents are fine with whatever I do. As long as I can keep myself healthy (which I do), they could care less what I wear. They are concerned with what's important. They have a very simple and understandable rule: if they wouldn't wear it, they won't buy it for me. I have to buy everything myself. Which is actually much better than the alternative. You get more freedom that way, so it's win-win.

My mom is pretty chill (she just always thought I looked better in color so she wouldn't let my wardrobe be more than 1/4 black, any more than that I had to buy myself) and daddy was amazingly supportive of me no matter what. After all they were both hippies when they were in college so they both know what is is like to be a part of a widely misunderstood subculture.

My parents suck! They are repulsed by the goth look. I think they are just peachy keen with looking and being boring. If you express yourself, and you don't look like them, they get antsy.

My mother thinks gnet is a load of freaks. She poked around and she didn't like what she'd seen.

My dad never seemed to care, but perhaps we were never close enough for him to tell me he disproves of my lifestyle choices. My mom used to be terribly bothered by it and often begged I wore more colors and that I attended church with her (despite the fact she never went). Over the years she gave up and started purchasing me clothes on her own that were black, knowing I'd not wear anything else (although I do sport color every so often, such as my red Pokémon t-shirt).

I did look like a dumbass in early high school, though, because it was in my terribly naïve days when I thought Hot Topic was the window to my existence. However shitty I think the store is now and the people who congregate there, it was part of my path to "Gothic enlightenment," and on occasion you can find cool stuff like really good Goth rock CDs or t-shirts from bands like Siouxsie.

My mom always lectured about being an individual. In fact we used to borrow each others' clothes quite a bit. We still do it's just she lives two hours away now. My dad well he gets weird about it. Every time he buys me something like a phone or comforters it's either really girly and pink. There's not much I can do about that so I try to buy my own stuff like that. I miss living with my mom.

My parents are pretty cool, have had several mid-life crisis situations, and have become easy to live with.
My parents used to hate my fashion sense, but then dad finally blew it off and said he and mom would support my individuism, even though they did not approve of my style. Not a word against my fashion sense since then.
Then I realized how much of an asshole I was when I hated them.

My parents are great. They're supportive like they're meant to be. Even though I go get into arguments with my dad sometimes, but that's mostly because I express my opinion on what a prick his brother is.
