Guitar advice

Hey
I am a fresh guitarplayer, still wet behind the ears :P
I can't play anything special, but I'm proud to have Korobeiniki down without looking at tabs :P But that's simple.
So anyone got some tips and stuff about playing the guitar and learning?
Any tips will be welcome with open arms

Yeah, I've noticed that it works rather well to take breaks Then I can usually do that one annoying riff a lot better

practice, open up to all genres from blues to metal, try to learn how to read music instead of just tabs, get to know some music theory, and just dedicate yourself to it. thats how i got better.

I learned tp play guitar one song at a time. Take a few songs you love and teach yourself to play them competently, one by one. You'll develop your ear as you go.

Same here, but with bass. It really helps you be able to play by ear in the future.

Never stop! Just have patience. You don't understand how good it feels to notice that you're able to play something without that much practice that felt impossible maybe a year ago. When you haven't been aiming to be the best or something like that. Just play what you think is fun, because it's fun.

Spend money on lessons, not equipment. Oh, and watch people play guitar, the way they do hammer ons, pick slides, and strumming, everything basically.

I can almost play by ear now. The March Violets, Nosferatu and T. Rex are surprisingly simple.

Doesn't mean you'll not get the urge to buy a Marshall stack one day, before you could handle the power.

Oh, and don't buy an expensive guitar, unless you have the skill to justify it, keep it down to 250 marks a pop, 250 being the highest amount you should ever pay for a guitar.

A good tip I havent seen is to learn how to take care of and maintain your instrument (ask your local guitar tech/repairer or someone in your local music shop for more info).

Another important thing is to make sure your new instrument is properly set up by a qualified guitar tech (so the neck will be properly adjusted, and the guitar properly intonated which will make the playing experience a lot more rewarding), you can ask for a `professional set up` at a music shop and this should be done once a year !!!.

Another tip is to buy a metronome to help you learn to play in time to songs !!!. :

Do you have a tuner for your guitar, if not the Boss TU_2 is very good and used on stages around the world, and the Korg DT-3 is brilliant as it is a chromatic tuner which is handy if you want to try different tunings for your guitar !!!.

I hope this helps, good luck with your new instrument !!!.

Don't force yourself to play all the time. I feel that I play significantly worse If I force myself to play and I can't really be bothered.

I do have a tuner, a small standard one, and I got my guitar equipment set up and tuned in a professional music store, so I hope I'm good for now
