[rec]
Anyone else seen this awesome piece of undead Spanish cinema?
28 Days Later meets Cloverfield in the confines of a single apartment building, in the best and most intense way possible. I saw it as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival, and I don't know if it was just the big screen and half the audience screaming, but it was the first film to actually scare me.
It's been remade into the inevitable Hollywood abomination called 'Quarantine', but for fucks sake, watch the original first! By far the best film I've seen this year.

But I so want to see it now.

I have got to see this. I haven't seen a movie that scares me for so long.

It's out on DVD, so you both should definitely check it out sometime. I hope it isn't too anticlimactic now that I've raved about it being so great, haha. It's probably scarier when you're not expecting it to be scary, but still a fucking cool movie.

I am looking forward to seeing [Rec]. Unfortunately though, it is not going to be released on DVD in the US until after the US remake Quarantine, is released. Sucks.

It's available on Amazon.co.uk if you don't mind paying the extra shipping... I'm thinking I might have to get it from there myself. I'm so not looking forward to Quarantine, particularly when people start raving about how 'great' and 'original' it is. Grrr.

Cicero, do you know when or if it's going to be released in Australia?

Unfortunately, it's coded region 2, so it won't play in my dvd player. I used to have an "unlocked" dvd player that would play all regions, but it sadly broke!

It won't be screening in cinemas here (though Quarantine unfortunately comes out in October, eugh), but the DVD should be floating around here pretty soon I think.
Chelseagirl - Damn, I always forget about regions! My DVD players have always been multi-region from moving countries so often. Oh well, the movie will be worth the wait, I'm sure.

I saw [rec] the other day and it's not as scary as I thought it would be. Throughout the movie there were parts that made me freak out, but the ending is what got to me - it's hideously frightening. I don't want to give anything away, but I would still recommend it.
